We all have history with this series whether it is good or bad. The great races, great battle mode battles or vice versa. The Kart (or Cart) racer that most people have played at least once in their lives. Since a new one is coming out for the Wii U, Mario Kart 8, I thought of making this topic to discuss the series and their expectations for 8.

I'll try to update this with any news about the game that comes later.

Also if you'd like to recall how some of the games played or looked, you can check out the link below.

The games that I've played:
Super Mario Kart
Mario Kart 64
Mario Kart: Double Dash
Mario Kart DS (aka Snaking Kart DS when online)
Mario Kart Wii
Mario Kart 7 (at least 2 or 3 races)
I also played one of the Arcade ones. I think it was Mario Kart GP.

I haven't played Mario Kart Super Circuit though.  Embarrassed

Is there something about the bikes that you would want changed to at least take away their advantage other than just removing them?

Though in a way, for those that played Mario Kart DS online, a lot of people used the snaking technique and I thought that took the fun out of the online. Snaking for those that don't know was the technique of mainly using the mini-turbos you get from drifting (when you change the color of the sparks from blue to red) on a straight part of the track. Giving it a snake like pattern.

^If it doesn't embed, click the link and go 47 seconds in. He starts snaking right after getting hit with the green shell.

I believe that may have been the main reason why gaining mini-turbos through drifting in later Mario Karts was changed.

It would have been cool if you could have made lobbies that were Kart only

Bikes just had the advantage.  If you race with a Kart on MKWii right now, it will be you vs 9 bikes on just about every race.

I hope they improve the battle mode.  N64 had the best battle mode and best battle maps.  Loved the running around as a bomb if more than two people were still alive Cheesy  Used to play that one all the time, but all the other ones after that kinda sucked.

But I love my Mach Bike. Seeing Daisy bent over it..  Azn

I do think kart-only playlists would be nice, for those who want to blame bikes for getting stomped. jk jk jk

Mariokart 64, Wii, and Mario64 are the only games I've ever gotten 100% completion on, and I did it purely for the challenge and fun of it. Getting 3 stars in a cup wasn't a chore at all.

I feel like that conversation has happened before.

I think Mario Kart 8 will have a pretty good online community if it keeps and updates what 7 did with the online community options.

I've beaten bike racers while on a kart once in MKWii. It was back when DG and Honors Wrath (HW) on occasion held some private races back then. Those were the days.

If I could find his MKWii videos I would post them here.

I have played all of them, except the arcade one. My favourite one is defeinitely Double Dash, I loved making combinations of characters. Randomly combining them was always fun. The Wii one was also really great but that's mostly because of the online experience I had with it. Good times. I have a bunch of videos of me and my nephew racing with Krazy and other TKO/HW people back in the day. That was a lot of fun. I hope MK8 will be fun, too...

Here's one of those videos. Krazy, you're in it. Cheesy

By the way, here's a picture for your bike fetish, Jabba. Dasiy > Peach though.  Wink
