"Along with Green Day's Dookie, Smash was among the most commercially successful punk rock albums released in 1994, a year when the genre reached arguably its greatest popularity. By the end of the year, Dookie and Smash had both sold millions of copies. The commercial success of these two albums attracted major label interest in pop punk..." Don't forget Bad Religion's first album released by a major label was released in 94 as well. Stanger Than Fiction. Oh, and the whole shenanigans where Gurewitz and Graffin came to hate each other happened then too

I think Nirvanas Nevrmind was the most groundbreaking album to come out in a long time, it almost singlehanded took out hair bands and guns and roses with one swipe

True, but we didn't have a "groundbreaking musical events from 23 years ago ..." topic when I started this it almost singlehanded took out ... guns and roses with one swipe
Ironic because GNR's Use Your Illusion I & II came out exactly one week before Nevermind.
