Well I am going to have to go with JTR on this one.  I don't see how it can be denied that the different characters effect the stats of the bike because they are shown on the screen when selecting a bike.  The bars adjust according to the riders.  That much is undeniable.  How much it truly effects your racing is another issue because in a race with others, there are way to many other factors effecting the outcome of a race.  But these small bonuses can be shown in TT where perfect lines are taken through the course.  For instance, yoshi's off road bonus won't do much good if you never go off road.  Yet in a GP or VS race, you may find yourself off road so yoshi may work for you in that instance, but the combos that have been chosen are generally chosen for speed and drift and MT.  That is because in a perfect race or a TT scenario they are better.  You can never predict what will happen in a MK race, but speed and drift and MT will give you the best shot to get out front and stay there without considering items.  And since items are unpredictable it is best to just put yourself in that best position and let the item game play out.  However, as JT said, these bonus are very small so if you definitely love another character, it probably won't be the difference between winning or losing very often, so drive who you like.

True, Daisy is my second favourite character BEFORE this game. The reason these stats bug me is because sometimes when I use Daisy and win, I get told I was cheating for using Daisy. That really makes me feel bad since I was simply using her because she's an awesome character.

The fact that I can be accused of cheating for using my favourite character just ruins the fun.

Lol, the ONLY people you should be using in TT's is Funky, Daisy, B daisy, and Toadette. B daisy for N64 Sherbet Land, and Toadette for GBA shy guy.

I personally use king boo and Flame runner in online races, for the handling and the off-road. You can tell a difference with the off road, and the speed stats really don't amount to much when you're getting item raped and wheelie slapped.

Go for who you like, but don't bag on people for using Funky and Daisy...  Afro
