I believe it's basically just changing your IP to a static one, instead of dynamic.
Or, CoD games (and pretty much every online game have unique "ports" (which are numbers) and what you do is you set your router to that port so most of the bandwidth or whatever is going to that source.
I'm not 100% certain on how to do it since it's different for every router. Bantha and undr know how to do it, though.
Contact your router company so they can tell you how to go about it.

Kreater, I called nintendo and asked about the hard wiring. They told me they recommend you use wireless if you have it. If not, they said you need to use one of their usb things.

I have their LAN adaptor. It was the first thing I bought with the wii.
