If you didn't pick up my capital G in God, then I'll say that I believe that there is a God somewhere, but I'm not sure about him because there are so many religious views concerning him/her/it.

If you do belive in God, do you believe in predestination? What a bout Churches? Tithing?

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DESTROY THIS THREAD

I have defended the existance from God on many threads across the internet (everyone agree's I won them all by the way). And I cannot take it anymore! If I hear ONE MORE smug little aetheist bastard act like his OPPINION is better then everybody elses and that anyone who disagree's with him no matter how valid their arguments and evidence is a "retarted idiot" I SWEAR I'M GONNA BURN HIS HOUSE DOWN.

^ I believe God could have used the Big Bang, too.  Not so uncommon a belief, really.

I'm Baptist, although I consider myself non-denominational.  That probably explains itself.

Why is it so hard to believe the Bible account of Creation, but you can believe that God used a big explosion that somehow put everything in perfect place for the universe to function how it does?  Logic tells me that is much more of a stretch.  I think the problem that some "christians" have when they choose not to believe something the Bible says is that they have been infused with these crazy notions that what they learn in school is "science" and must be true.  However scientific theory about creation is based on some inherently unprovable assumptions that are completely unfounded.  Remove those popular assumptions from your thinking (since they are as far from proven fact as you can get) and it becomes alot easier to see the rationality behind the Genesis account of creation and how the real scientific record doesn't contradict it.

I said "could".  I think I can speak for Handy and Squire when I say that we don't necessarily believe God did use the Big Bang so much as could have used it.  I believe in the Genisis creation account, but I don't dismiss the possibility of an indirect creation via Big Bang.

I have one question to ask that I saw in a youtube video (LOL), and got me thinking...Does God despise amputees?

Sounds strange, but think about it. People pray to have a good day, to Ace a Test, and many other things, and God fulfills these prayers. But what about the amputees? They pray to grow a leg, or an arm back, and guess what happens. They're still 1 limb short. Again, sounds weird, but that youtube video really got me thinking  Smiley

Agnostic. We don't, won't, and can't know. Despite what you feel in your heart or may have learned in science class, the bottom line is that either side can be wrong. The problem I have with organized religion is the assumption of certain knowledge. I'm gonna use the God of Abraham as my example, so all you Xians, Jews, and Ragheads out there don't get offended and feel I'm picking on you, it's simply an example. For each and every stipulation you add onto your structure of beliefs, the possibility that your view is wrong is increased.

Now we have 3 major religions all worshiping the God of Abraham. For the last 2000 years there have been endless conflicts between these 3 sects on which one has the details right, because all 3 believe they and they alone know what God wants and who He chooses to send His message. Mohammad? Jesus? Neither? 3 different religions, each having hundreds of millions of followers, divided by something as simple as which books are holy and if a prophet is authentically inspired by God.

Your God put a divine being on Earth named Jesus who was given birth by a virgin? There was a massive flood that killed every living being on the Earth, other than 1 family and 2 of every animal thats still in existence? Die in jihad and recieve 72 virgins wutwut?

To pour a little fuel on this thread, I'll leave you with Occam's Razor. When 2 or more theories equally explain the same phenomena based on the only evidence available, it is rational to choose the simplest one, for every stipulation that is attached increases the probability of falsehood.

You obviously have no understanding of the big bang. It is perfectly natural and supported by an immense amount of evidence. The scientific community isnt perfect. But because of the fact that many of them are the greatest minds of the century, and they are constantly trying to pick apart and doubt other theorys. This makes any theory that becomes widely accepted by them extremely credible.

I have one question to ask that I saw in a youtube video (LOL), and got me thinking...Does God despise amputees?

My family has been witness to certain "incidents" that lead us to believe that we have a gaurdion angel. As for amputee's, I answered all the questions in that video with one hemisphere of my brain tied behind my back. To quickly answer the amputee one:

"God does not heal amputee's as doing so would prove his own existance to mankind and thus destroy the meaning and purpose of faith"

To pour a little fuel on this thread, I'll leave you with Occam's Razor. When 2 or more theories equally explain the same phenomena based on the only evidence available, it is rational to choose the simplest one, for every stipulation that is attached increases the probability of falsehood.

I am fammiliar with Occams Razor. And I believe it supports my arguments. The evidence I have witnessed cannot be explained by any other theorum then the God Theorum. So I believe it to be correct. That is all their is to it.
