I have a question which might be nooby, but that means someone should be able to answer it. Are Ground and Rock attacks physical or special? I mostly want to know for Earthquake since the Earthquake/Protect or Flying Type combo is pretty popular.
earthquake is physical....most rock and ground moves tend to be physical attacks, though there are a bunch of exceptions(power gem, anything with mud in the name, earth power, and ancient power).....just go to the serebii attackdex if you need anything more

Like Handy said, it depends. If you're playing a newer generation (the remakes of Gold and Silver, Diamond, Pearl, Platinum) you should be able to tell if the move is physical or special by looking at the info page of the attack. You'll either see what look likes a ripple in water (special) or what looks like an explosion (physical).

Yeah, my brother has Platinum for his DSi but I didn't feel like checking on there. Lately I've just been playing Pokemon Colosseum for my Gamecube, lol. Trying to find which games are compatible for the GBA Link cable. I know Ruby and Sapphire are but I'm not sure about Emerald.

In your guys' opinion, what is the best combo of types? I don't think this exists but Dragon/Ice would be pretty good.

Dark/Ghost with Wonder Guard.
aka Spiritomb with Wonder Guard spiritomb is weak to nothing....only combo that can have no weakness is dark/ghost......too bad spiritomb is a scrub, has horrible speed, but good defense.....its good as a tank if you need one, but any rock/ground is better(<3 meh a rhydon/rhyperior)

How can Rock/Ground be the best when it has 6 weaknesses including two that are 4x? Fighting, Ground, Ice, Steel, Grass x4, Water x4.

Also Sableye for Dark/Ghost but he's not great. Alright attack but he's pretty bad all-around.

almost every rock/ground is a tank.....most can take multiple hits from attacks that are 4x effective and survive

Unless it's an EV-trained Starmie's Surf, in which case your Ryperior is gonna be butt-fudged.

Rhyperior/Rhydon are tanks, but not as huge of tanks as some others, a lot of people prefer them as they also have high attack stats too
