Yeah, it's a difficult game for sure. I think that's why a lot of people pick this game up and quit after 2 minutes. They give you a gun and put you in a large map and have you stop an enemy team that can take all of an infinite amounts of routes to get around you. That's the beauty of it though.

I saw a comment you made the other day saying how automatics are too easy. I don't know if that is just in CoD but BF isn't that kind of game. There are some guns that are way too powerful but in the end positioning trumps most everything else. It's not about just being better with guns but about map and objective knowledge. If you see they have A and B you better believe they're coming to C. Are you going to run out in the open and challenge them head on or are you going to push up slowly on the flank and thin them out?

The position on the map you take and traveling with your squad mates contributes infinitely more than just raw gun skill.  Afro

Lol I said automatics were too easy to make oomomo mad... I can't use an automatic very well :/ especially in battlefield..

I think I flourish (and I know you don't like this) when I'm sitting on top of a building and using the spotting scope thing to point out the enemies..

If it was only raw gun skill I would never get points.  Embarrassed

Haha... I was only joking because I know that Joel hates that. I still do it more than I should but I have learned that the edges of the map are your friend. Tongue

Punk June. Just wait until the PS4 when you can send me your raw footage. I'll craft you into a lean mean, ass kicking machine.

Autumn, you think that's how you flourish because you haven't quite developed the skillset that all of us already have. Once you learn the maps better and refine your routes and tactics, you'll think back and realize how much you were limiting yourself by thinking that.

I'm not trying to make it sounds like this game creates Army Generals or anything, but it is a bit more difficult that a lot of other games out there.

What I noticed you did well last night was running with the pack a little bit more and using your motion balls to scan the area we were in. That's great. Try and keep a little bit closer range though, like literally next to your squad mate so you can play off them. More than that, I know those motion balls tend to run out really fast and staying close to an Assault player means you have a constant supply. Again, those motion balls print money. Afro

As far as weapons go, yeah they can be a bit of a challenge because bullets are affected by bullet drop and travel time. The further away you are the more you have to lead in front of a moving target and the higher above his head you have to aim. Like Red said in a couple of posts above this, you really, really have to burst fire. Try bursting in different amounts and seeing what you like. Getting accustomed to sensitivity and the sense of weight of the soldier will come naturally so be patient. Also, once you unlock Mag Ammo in the second specialization you should equip that pretty much always. It increases your power by 25% so your ttk (time to kill) drops quite a bit. You'll be winning a lot more gun fights with it. I think you unlock that at rank 15 so just try as hard as you can to get points by whatever means possible.

Lastly, as a bit of a tactical overview, you should look at your map and first establish which flags you have. That will help you determine where the other team is likely to be and it will help you make better decisions. Once you know the map layout you'll be able to better guess the more likely routes they are taking and can then be ready for them. Once you decide on a course of action, remember, don't get caught in the open. Personally, I like to travel through cover, inside houses if possible on infantry maps. Run in, take a look around and see if you can spot anyone, engage from cover if you do find someone or run to the next forward position if you don't. Eventually that'll all get streamlined and you'll travel from one spot to another having in mind certain expectations and you'll be able act more immediately and with better certainty.

I'd say you're right on everything, but this... The one game where I actually had many kills was at Arica harbor, when I was sitting on top of the construction platforms, I was picking people off right and left and I was leading the team with points... I think that's ultimately what helped everyone capture C and made the other team quit.

GG's last night.  I wish I didn't have to quit in the middle of the White Pass game.  Those guys were good and it would have been fun to play some competitive games for a while.

I'll try to get on some more.

Hey Sean, GGs man. Yeah, hopefully we can get to play a little bit more lately.

Autumn, I'm not trying to take away from your successes. I'm glad you're trying to improve at the game and all, but seriously taking most of the credit for a win isn't that cool either. We might have had C but there was nothing stopping them from taking A or B, which they did a few times successfully. The other team quitting had more to do with the competency of our team compared to the incompetency of the other team.

Remember those guys in the White Pass match and how they were pretty damn good? If they had been in that Arica match, a person standing on top of the construction building would be easy pickings for them and anyone else that knows what they're doing. Spotting enemies was excellent work from you for sure, but it was definitely the teams collective effort that won the game. One persons overall actions is rarely the cause of victory.

Here is a video of an amazing Recon player. Ironically, it seems that he breaks with all the things I've been suggesting to you, but then again, these are only clips and montages so we don't know how much of a team player he is. Moreover, even though I said one person carrying a team to victory is very rare this might very well be such a case. Anyway, it could serve as a model for you to compare yourself with.

You have taken away from my success Tongue I bought this game like a month ago and I'm already the top 3rd player on most of the games I play, And I use a sniper.. And I didn't mean that I totally won that game, I meant that what I did helped out a lot.. You make it seem like Recon hardly does anything for the team and that the only good thing a recon player can do is throw motion balls..

Yes I remember white pass and those guys were great... however in the week that I've been playing regularly I've never lost a distanced sniper battle.. I'm not trying to say I'm the best or anything, like that guy in the video  Undecided but I'm saying I manage well.

In comparison to the video guy....................... he's amazing and I'm not lol But I just started!! Tongue

I'm not really used to the whole team play thing that much, because I am a Cod player... but I think I'm getting better  Undecided I sometimes forget I have the motion sensors though.

LMAO. Except that I'm not saying that Recons are useless at all. I've stated my position on the Recon class quite clearly and have gotten support for my position by other experienced players. When this game was in it's prime and we all played, the two Recon players I played most with from here were Kreater and Superbadchic. Occasionally they would sit on top of a building like you do but for the most part they played pretty much how I described. Guess what? I would frequently have to fight them for top spot on the chart. I really don't want to go there, but I do humbly consider myself a quite competent player in most areas of the game so it's quite obvious that playing in that way put them at or above my own level.

Obviously I encourage a new player such as yourself to keep trying to improve and I think I've provided quite a few tips to help you out but I will not concede truth to your opinion simply because what I have already voiced isn't just my own opinion, but verified and established facts put forth by the entire community. As such, I refuse to reiterate my position for any more clarification.
