Seriously. If I have stuff on one ps3, can I use it all on the other? I looked at the data utility and it says things will be deleted from one ps3 in order to get them on another. I'm not worried about trophies and stuff, I just want to be able to play my games or my kids play their games without having to start everytying over. I looked at copying stuff and it only says I can copy to another profile on the same ps3.
Help please.

I would try copying your game data and loading it onto your other ps3, then make another user on your other ps3 and sign in with your existing psn, only one can be signed in at a time or it will kick the other off

I thought about it some more, and with game sharing, you have to sign into somebody else's psn from another ps3 an you can, with that said, when buying a new hard drive to replace your old one, you copy everything and load it onto your new hard drive, if your able to do both these steps I see no reason why you can't transfer your game data

Thanks Dave, I've looked at the transfer/copy stuff, and I'm reading online. So far it seems it's not much of a problem, it's just that I can't figure out how to get game data saved into a portable hard drive to tranfer over. The transfer utility under "system settings" says that if transfer data it will be deleted not copied. So, I'm trying to find out how to copy to a portable hard drive.

go to (game icon) scroll up to (saved game utility) go to each game you want to save the data from, click the triangle while on that game, next click (copy) if your usb device is plugged in it should be listed at top of list after clicking copy, save it to your usb device. I have never had to load my saved game data before, but I would do this, put the game disc into your new ps3 first and let it download all the game updates, after you do this then install the saved game data with your memory stick.

ok I just tested out the second part of this for you, to copy from memory stick to new ps3 simply go to (saved game utility) again on new ps3 then click the usb device, it will list all the game data that is on there for each game, go from game to game and click (copy) on each game

sorry for the triple post, just getting my post count up, ok so you don't have to ask incase you don't know, the game data will not work unless your signed into the psn your data was played and saved on, to do this.
Go to (users) then to (create new user) name it what you want.
Go to (playstation network) go to (sign up for playstion network) click (sign into existing account) enter your email and password

Ok this is just me speculating, if you just sign into your psn through another ps3, your friends list and your trophies should be there ( from the last time you synchronized them on your original ps3) and you can redownload stuff from the store that you have purchased for free because that is all saved through playstation network.
But Ps361 to say that all your game data will be there is like saying that you have a safe at home that you keep diamonds in and only you know the password for the safe, you go to another house that has a safe and you enter your password and somehow your diamonds are magically in it, I believe its impossible .

Yeah, the signing on thing works, but transfering data is what needs to be done.

also greyhound I'm not sure whats going to happen with your VIP code with BC2, I'm hoping that will adjust automatically after loading the updates and your game data for BC2. You can only use this code once right? I'm just hoping that it will all workout for you in regards to BC2

I got a second ps3 and this is what i did got a usb went to game data utility and copyed every file onto the usb then went to the other and loaded all of it and where ever you left of at it will be on the new ps3. The problem is you will have to reload every patch with your games uncharted 2 had 9 patches so it took forever reloading them. Also if you downloaded dlc what you have to do is go into ps3 store and at the top go to view downloads and they should be there just redownload them on new ps3. Another problem i found is that some games are copy protected so you can't copy the info like gt5 and kz2 i wasn't able to get my old files. Some games copy protect the files cause there are fruits that save there files put them on fileshare or something and let some others get free trophys like scumbags

We have 2 PS3's, and had to use 2 VIP codes for BC2. We bought 2 copies to play each other regardless, but we tried just using 1 code twice and it didn't work. And Dave, you're right about the method of transferring game data. That's how we did it.
