Drift In Gran Turismo 5 Tips 1: I havent done it myself but theres an option in the arcade section of the game for the tracks a choice called drift trial or drift run. i think they set the cars up to drift already. possibly.
Drift In Gran Turismo 5 Tips 2: Just take off all assists (ABS, TCS, etc), and use normal tires. my personal favorite is N2 for most cars. a good practice car is either a muscle car (to get used to spinning out), or almost any mid engine car. this will help you get used to spinning out. after you get used to it, try out some AWD cars like the Mines BNR34.
Drift In Gran Turismo 5 Tips 3: I usually go around 50-60mph on entry in second or third gear. on sharp turns, I slow down a little more, E-brake, turn, and hit the gas to spin the rear tires. once you lose grip in the back, keep on the gas to keep the tires spinning. dont forget to counter steer to not spin out as easily. when you feel your car starting to spin out a little bit, either counter steer more, or let off the gas (doesnt ALWAYS work), or both.
Drift In Gran Turismo 5 Tips 4: You can also try clutch kick with a feint drift. Coming into the turn at around 50-60MPH feint to the opposite of the turn, then quickly turn into the turn while down shifting, and you should start to drift. then just use the throttle to keep it going.
Drift In Gran Turismo 5 Tips 5: Start off with a rx7, 350z, or even a db9, put crappy tyres on, preferably n2 on the front and n1 on the back, turn off all driving aids except abs, make sure it is in professional physics and you are ready. You have two choices when coming into the corner, go in a bit too fast or too slow.
Drift In Gran Turismo 5 Tips 6: Be very aggressive withe the power and when the car starts sliding, counter-steer, wiggle the steering so the car goes where you want it to, and when you feel that you are about to spin, let go of the throttle, steering the opposite way but beware, the back may abruptly swing round. When you have got the hang of it, try to flick the car going into a corner, eg when going into a left hander, steer right then left and the car will oversteer. you may want to dab on the handbrake to keep the drift going.
Drift In Gran Turismo 5 Tips 7: In a uncontrolable 4 wheel drift and you are going to go onto the grass braking may help. I sugguest deifting on eiger first and the perhaps on suzuka east. You may also may want to buy a wheel, even the now quite cheap official gt wheel with 900 degrees will help a lot, this may take weeks to learn how to drift properly but you will get it.
