No way man, this is totally different from CoD. I found that you cannot go into this with the same strategies that you used in BC2. Change it up man.

I didn't notice hardly anyone camping with flamethrowers last night.  I shot a lot of people carrying them, though.  Azn

There were campers, but not any worse than BC2, and all of the ones I spotted were carrying M16s, AK47s, etc.

I meant the concept of CoD. Hide and ambush. Hide and ambush. Roll Eyes

And yes, I found out real quick that you need to switch your gameplay compared to BC2. Grrr!!

Shotgun works for quick hit and runs on campers and suprise attacks. Even if you are the one caught off guard.  Wink

I never understood the point of the hiding and ambushing in a game like cod. It's so much fun going on a killing frenzy with the spas coldblooded, marathon, and ninja. Knife only with marathon coldblooded ninja is wild birds. Riotshielding with semtex/stuns dangerclose, OMA, and commando aggresively is slower but still wild birds.

Chilling in one part of the map with an RPD/M16/Famas/ACR while picking people off as they run past a window is boring and no fun. I didn't get bad k/d in mw2 like a 1.5 or something like that. But I play to have fun not to try hard.

BC2 is a different story for me, there's less stupid fun and a lot more thinking when I play bc2.

These campers can see you from a mile away, unlike many of the maps in CoD.  Thats what peeved me off the most.  In CoD, you can check corners and rooms.  In this game, most of the maps are heavily wooded, opened area maps.   Undecided

Not to cause a monsoon on BF Vietnam, but I'm already missing playing the regular.

So far I like the M14, probably my favorite weapon, but I'm still messing around.

I like period piece games that make you feel like ur in the moment...they definitely get the feel and chaotic intensity for the time right with this DLC.

Some things don't make sense tho, in BC2 you can pretty much take out any structure and make ur own path...but in Nam u can get stuck between bamboo and can't hack it with a knife  Angry

Also missing is any kind of a Napalm strike...would've been cool to allow recon to spot with binoculars and call in a strike once in awhile...

This isn't the same kind of pts scoring frenzy like the regular game either...most scores I've seen are way lower than regular BC2 maybe cuz the matches don't last as long or the maps aren't as big. Not having the bigger maps makes running vehicles play out different...doing a rush match...i could barely drive down the trail before getting the out of bounds warning...having to wait for the new m-coms to light up.

I dig the PPSH and Engineer class tho...had some fun Rambo type moments where I set the m-com then cleared out 7 dudes, blew up a bridge and knifed a guy Smiley  where was the recorder for that one -_-  Duster's fish tale!  I like getting close enuff to hear guys barking out stuff in Vietnamese while they're getting wasted Wink

Vietnam suffers from bad map syndrome. Hill 137 is fun but the NVA have a massive advantage Defending while the Americans in CQ actually have two routes to A while the NVA have to swing around that narrow corner near the beach.

Vantage Point is terrible too. Cao Son is actually my favorite, or it was until people started sending the PBR under the map at the American spawn and you can't destroy it while it shoots up through the floor. Really annoying.

Phu Bai is really fun and feels like an actual Battlefield map. I'll probably end up playing Hastings (since I played the **** out of it and it is a great map) and Phu Bai the most, Hill 137 on occasion and Cao Son whenever they fix that PBR ****.

Vantage Point I'm already backing out of every time it comes up.

As for balance issues the PPSh has too much versatility on its hands without a mag necessity but its not that bad, the other two engineer guns could use a boost if anything. 16-13 or something for the Uzi and a bit more range damage for the MAC would be much appreciated.

the AK47 should be scaled back to 18-16 though. Currently it beats any automatic gun except body armor PPSh users at close-range, and whats worse is that the M14 was actually balanced around that damage output yet exists only as an inferior AK currently - more recoil, slower fire rate, and a smaller mag for the same damage? come on dice

The M60 honestly could be a bit stronger to compete, that coupled with the monstrous inaccuracy makes me hate it. The RPK and XM22 are fine, the RPK is weak but its the only accurate Medic gun with a good iron so its pretty much niched by the fact that its the easiest one to use. If you get used to the M60/XM22 they're better guns though.

The M40 is awesome, almost makes me wish snipers were that good in regular. The M21 and SVD could go for a buff though, like a 2-3 shot with mag since the other guns are so much stronger yet they're just the T88/SVU from regular. Not good.

Thompson is awesome, haven't tried buffed shot or the Garand (so happy I platted that in regular, what a horrible gun) and the Flamethrower is annoying but surprisingly useful. still annoying to die after killing the guy that burned you though, half the time I play Medic to avoid it.

Huey needs more armor against the tank gunner seats seriously, they're like VADS guns. Maybe a slight tone-down for Infantry weapons against it would be awesome too.

Ok, so I played quite a bit today and here are some observations:

I think I enjoy TDM over Conquest in Vietnam.
Vehicles aren't necessarily advantageous.
Hill 137 is pretty intense in the trenches.
The maps are too similar (IMO) to each other.
The Assault Rifles are really smooth, especially with the AR+ in spec 2.
The SMG's are really effective with MAG ammo, the M10 in particular.
LMG's are difficult to use, but I find the RPK most effective with LMG+ in spec 2.
Snipers are fun and effective (both semi-auto and BA).
The shotgun seems to reload very quickly which is nice.
Flamethrowers are just fun to use since they are a change of pace from BC2, and satisfying to get multiple kills with.
Never end a sentence with a preposition.

^ lol!  Cheesy
GG' earlier.  The squad DM's were cool.  I was t-bagging every fahggit that would camp in that stupid cave over and over again.

^That.

@ bold. My thoughts exactly.  Its taken me up to around 4-5 shots to kill even with MAG ammo on.  Really!? And you're telling me that anyone can spray from across the map with an AR and take out a sniper thats getting body shots without the kill?

I'm really enjoying Vietnam.  Even just the loading screen playing CCR totally gets me going.   Afro  lol  I also like that all the elite players are still learning the maps and all, so I at least have a slight chance for now.  Wink

No motion sensors (or some sort of replacement) kinda stinks, but having mortars & TNT (and a wicked eye-patch) is pretty cool.  Cheesy
