Has anybody tried this? Or doing it now?
I spend a few minutes looking into it just now and here is what I found:
NHL Gamecenter $80/year or $20/month MLB $100/year or $20/month NBA $65 for the rest of the year and you can choose 7 teams to "subscribe to" or it was like $90 for every team.
All three of these are streamable to the Ps3; just curious if anybody has tried it.
I may try the MLB since $100 will go all the way until October and there are 162 games; I'm bound to catch a few.
I know many of us are using the Ps3 to keep TV costs down and this just adds to it, but even paying for all 3 is about equal to only 3 months of TV service.
And BTW, I still enjoy Hulu+ for $8/month; It's worth the cost imo.

Well, I just subscribed to NHL and MLB TV. Baseball, $99 for the year and NHL, $21/month for the rest of the season (4 months). Baseball is definitely a good price, I'm bound to watch 15-20 Giants games this season. As for Hockey, I may cancel before the playoffs.
I'll let you guys know how I like the service after a month of two of using it.

I just got rid of my Netflix and have been a little bored without it. I don't normally watch TV... but it was nice to have some background noise (besides music) while I cleaned house or graded and stuff.
Oh.. and to stay on subject... I only watch sports in person. I feel cheated of the experience if I watch them on TV.

Can you buy other packages? I watch a movie every night, and I'm starting to get a little bored with my selection....

Well, I haven't really watched either too much. I'm a little disappointed with the NHL; blackout restrictions. I haven't been able to watch the Sharks yet. So I'll probably cancel that after the season.
MLB, we'll see if the Giants are blacked out.
I'm not sure about NBA, I looked on the website, but it didn't show Ps3 capability.
NFL I'm not sure since Sundays are enough.
Hitter, try downloading PlayOntv.com you can stream espn3.com directly to your Ps3.
dubstep, try vudu videos.

Ha ha, yeah Cali it is. Wings Schmings I'm sure they'll meet in the playoffs again, they seem to meet regularly. When the sharks sucked, it was the first round, now that they are better it's in the later rounds. Actually, my sports viewing has declined rapidly in the past 5 years, so I'm more of a fan, not a fanatic. I pretty much read the news to keep up with the scores and stories, and occasionally watch the Bay Area teams. I may have married into the only family that is anti-sports. Not just a "whatever" attitude, but an actual, "anything but sports" attitude. That has carried into my own kids so unless I want to be alone for 3 hours, I don't watch too much anymore.

Ok time to update.
I think both services are good, albeit the NHL was really expensive @ $20/month. Picture quality was good for both, not quite HD I would say, but really cose. The downside: Blackout Restrictions. I'm not so much a "sports fan" anymore as much of a team fan. I don't watch enough to just watch anygame. So with the blackout restrictions I can't watch live games of the Giants or Sharks, so consequently I don't use the services. Still, if your a big fan, $100 for the MLB season and you can watch all the games, get stats etc. is a pretty good deal IMO (remember, I don't subscribe to cable/sat service.).
In closing, I will not renew MLB or NHL next year.
