Not sure what you're asking exactly, but you can open a party chat in the psn main lobby. In game, (like MW2) as soon as you join a server and are in lobby you can talk to everyone that's in it already. While in game you can send invites and if there's room they can join via invite or through an option called "join" or "join friend so and so" or something like that.

No, you can't talk like that on ps3. You can voice chat and invite people to a conference call and stuff but you can't really be doing anything else. If you try and surf the web you get kicked off the chat. It's one or the other.
If you're in a game the only people you can talk to are the people in that server.
Playstation Plus, which you pay for, is supposed to let you have cross game party chat but I haven't heard of anyone doing that yet. *looks at Lakkus and GH*

cross game chat isn't out yet as far as I know.
is that feature really worth all the hype? I really don't wanna have people inviting me to talk while I'm playing a different game or watching a movie or something. I get enough CoD game invites as it is *glares at Hoop*

well i was reading up on cross game chat and i read that sony didn't want to make it easier for cheaters. i think what people do is play like cod and ask friends on the opposite team where the bomb carriers where and stuff. I read that it was supposed to be included with PS+ but then they took it out of the product description.
I didn't post anything because I really didn't know for sure so I just waited for Lakk to reply.

they should make the auto download and install feature I have with PS+ for everyone instead of worry about cross game chat.
my PS3 downloads and installs everything automatically when I'm asleep.

Yeah, that's what I do on 360 a lot, like I said though, not a determining factor.

360 is more if you're a MLG. But if you're just a casual gamer... Go Ps3.
- It's free.
- You don't have to pay.
- No hidden charges.
- It's free.

i dunno man, id probably keep the xbox if i were you. unless youre THAT tired of paying for live that is. really you'll just be trading one system for another thats basically the same thing except your friends arent on ps3.
xbox pros -same as ps3 -maybe a little better connection -friends all have it -x game chat
xbox cons -pay for live
ps3 pros -many exclusives this year; twisted metal -wu players -free online -ps+ optional -blueray player
ps3 cons -maybe a bit slowerr online -multiplatform games arent treated as well on ps3 as on xbox; less quality (see CoD) -no x game chat

-if you wanna play wireless you have to pay like $60 for an adapter. Or else you're stuck wired. Which also sucks because those long ass wire cables aren't cheap either. -RROD. (most people say it doesn't happen to them. But you still take the chance of getting it when you buy a 360)

I haven't recieved any confirmation from experts on it yet. I have no problems with PS3's connection...At least not enough to raise an eyebrow.

me either. I've never understood why people say the PS3's online is "worse" cuz it has always worked fine for me.
and using a wireless connection is dumb if you're playing online anyway. it's always better to plug it in if you can. why in the world didn't they add wireless N to either system with the latest hardware updates?

going wireless cuts ur connection to about 1/2, but still 2x higher than what a Wii can pull down even if it's direct connected.
