read this link:

http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/02/rumor-microsoft-game-studios-vancouver-working-on-core-kinect-s/

look at this pic:

seriously though, how are they gonna handle this? the kinect is pretty damn impressive, but i just don't understand how they are gonna implement it to make a shooter game without some kind of controller or something to aim with. they can't really be thinking of making you hold up an invisible gun like in the pic above, right?

then comment:

your thoughts?

Why do you say there won't be a controller?

Also, "It's worth pointing out that the MGS Vancouver website makes no mention of a Kinect focus, nor do the job listings on its front page."

I agree with Lakkas... holding an invisible gun would be quite annoying... especially if you move for food or something and you shoot/do another random action... could be quite annoying.

so, you think they are gonna sell you a plastic toy to go with your game to use with the Kinect which is meant to be a controller-less form of gameplay?

Kinect can be used without a controller, but that doesn't mean every title released should throw away the use of a controller completely. In regard to the "plastic toy" going with your game, that tactic seems to be going alright for Sony.

I do love that commercial you quoted though.   Roll Eyes

lol, I meant are they going to sell you a fake gun to point at the tv...

or are you gonna use a controller in tandem with kinect? that would be cool. it could possibly map some motion controls to kinect and let you use the controller for movement and whatnot. like maybe you could reload, throw nades, pull up you scope, etc.. using some motion. you could open doors and pick stuff up with motions too.

I'm just trying to figure out what they plan on doing.

also, the Move is a great controller. much much better than the wiimote and also has camera functions similar to kinect but not near as deep. they just haven't released many games that I wanna play with it. KZ3 was awesome using the move, but that game just isn't my cup of tea.

That'd be awesome. As it is I have no interest in buying the kinect, but if there was a shooter controller I'd definitely consider it.
