Based on user ratings, of course. If you haven't played one, just say so or put N/A for your rating or something. Rate them from 1 to 10, obviously. Here's the list: The Legend of Zelda Zelda II: The Adventure of Link The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks That should be all of them, let me know if I missed any of the main games. I'll post my ratings after two people have given theirs.

I've only played the first 3 (old ) so I can only say that I love love love those. Of the 3 I think a link to the past is one of my favorite games of all time.

What did you think of Zelda II? To refresh your memory, it was the side-scrolling one that most people hated.
I thought it was kinda fun, but I never felt as compelled to play it as I did with the others.

I was still younger so had nothing to compare it to. But thinking back on it, it was alot wierder to play it that way. -_-
I got legend of Zelda when my son got his gameboy mini and fell back in love with it again. /nostalgia
With link to the past, I got that DL'd the first day I got my win and still.play it from time to time.
Do you think it would be worth it to try any of the following games? Do any compare to the first ones?

I'd suggest playing all of them, lol. Though, if you want games similar to those old ones, then I'd recommend Link's Awakening, Oracle of Seasons/Ages, and Minish Cap. They all have the top-down view that the original did. Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker are my personal favorites, but they're 3D games as opposed to 2D. And not 3D in the current sense, it just means that they have depth and you play from more of an over-the-shoulder perspective rather than top-down. If you have free time and just want to chill, I'd say play them all.

Hmm, I'm open to any/all, but I remember just glancing at a version a few years back and thinking, "that looks fruity", almost in the sense that it looked really chldish. Are any of the newer ones comparable to the "travel all over the map to discover/unlock" style that the old ones were like? It obviously took way more time to complete the games for that reason, but it kept me glued to the game. If you have a few years of free time and just want to chill, I'd say play them all. fixed.

It obviously took way more time to complete the games for that reason, but it kept me glued to the game. Link's Awakening is probably the closest to that. Though, all of the top-down games are like that, really. They might feel a bit more linear than the original, but that's only because they have more structured stories.

I think Ocarina of Time is the best N64 game of all time. Second and Third would be Super Mario 64 and Donkey Kong 64 respectively. Those games just outranked any other N64 games for me personally. Though I spend a lot of time on FPS, my favorite games have ALWAYS been action/adventure or RPG.
I also recommend Twilight Princess though I guess it might not be everyone's style. I had a blast playing that game and the story was very well put together.

The wind waker is my favorite. Some times I would sail around for hours with no destination in mind.
