Used them for 30 minutes today so far.
Very nice, comfortable and sound great. Instantly connected; it comes with a small adaptor that looks like a flash drive. Put the "flash drive" into the usb port, turn on the headset and off you go. It has an on screen HUD that pops up anytime a button is pressed: volume/power/mute/surround etc. The mic is retractable and the headset is adjustable. There is a simple sliding mixer for adjusting the balance between chat and game sounds. The buttons/sliders for making sound adjustments are a little tricky for older hands but really it's just a matter of getting used to them.
As for sound, well, I felt like I was playing a new game. More footsteps including those in nearby buildings, more gun shot distance judjement, more ambient noise: did you know the canal in Harvest Day SDM makes a running water sound? Of course, just all around more engulfing since there isn't any outside noise interferance.
$99 and worth it.

You should post a pic of it. I've only seen a picture of it online and it didn't really show anything... Are they better than the rest of the headsets that are sold? Also when you talk can other people hear you clearly? That's the only problem with PS3 chat. Sometimes it's really hard to understand some people.

These were taken from an online search, but these are the ones. They are as big as they look, the padding goes compelely around my ears and the thinkness of the bar is two inches from front to back. As for chat, not sure if it's better or worse than any others.

Awesome! I thought I read something bout the 7.1 only active for PS3 sound engineered games...but that might be wrong. I really want to talk myself into it...but shutting the world out could mean that a kid comes downstairs and I have no idea how long they've been standing there....cuz my kids be curious and want to know what I'm up to later at night..

well cant speak for hound but on my end he came in loud and clear. good to know. I'm still messing with the sounds. It's not necessarily difficult, just trying to figure the best way to do each. voice and game sounds can be adjusted separately. as for 7.1 surround? well, I found that with the audio for bc2 on war tapes, it sounded better with the setting on the headset on stereo. and yes, the headphones can be used for watching tv/movies on the ps3. You can also set it so only voice comes from the headset and game comes from the tv, don't know why since you wouldn't hear the tv anyway.

well cant speak for hound but on my end he came in loud and clear. Oh, and I will say this too. there is definitely a fine balance between the game and voice. voice too loud, then I might as well have the regular earpiece on; game to loud and I can't hear what you are saying clearly.

Ok, forgot to mention this but told LT, June, and Pip my thoughts:
for $79 you can get wired turtle beach and others, for $129 or more you can get other wireless headsets. Sony did something great for us and them. Sony, knowing that if I wanted to spend $130, I'd probably go with a proven product. But, knowing it was designed by sony, made specifically for the Ps3, I didn't feel like I would get an inferior product. They put it less than other wireless products hoping people like me would assume it would be quality since it's OEM so to speak.
just a thought...

I have the wired TB ones. PX21 or something. I like them very much and the wire doesn't really get in the way.

Coolhand make sure you clip that voice/game volume box to your shirt because the wires tend pull out and mess up the headset that way. I've had my own personal Tritton headset do that because I always let it hang, so the weight was too much for the wire and it pulled out slowly but surely. I've had friends with those PX21s also have the same problem....but they say PX21s are known to randomly break even if you take 100% care of them all the time. I've heard stuff about mics randomly breaking/no longer working, one or both ear sounds will stop playing, and wires pulling out. I think when it comes to headsets it might be better to fork out that extra amount of cash for the higher end ones than to get the lowest one possible. Since you get what you pay for, even though 70-100 is still a shitload.
