I guess my controller is just wearing out, but when I turn in the jet I always bump the right stick too hard and go into first person. It screws me up and if I don't immediately crash into something, I still lose whoever I was following.
Also crzy, what I do is lock onto a jet, wait for them to shoot their flares, then lock on again and fire both missiles (I didn't know there were two for a long time -_-) Then hurry and switch to your gun and take them out before the missiles get there and they jump out.
For losing an enemy jet: Break and do lots of tight turns. A lot of people say you should only go 1st person when firing, but it helps a lot when you're running away. Try to make them run into/ go out of their way to dodge obstructions in the environment like the radio towers and especially hills that have steep slopes. Fly upside down and narrowly miss the top of the ridge, then stick low to the ground. It's almost impossible to follow you then without running into the mountain.
If you're getting locked on by a stinger and you know where they are, fly low and close to the horizon. If they're on a high vantage point where that won't work, fly as high and far away as you can, and ONLY USE YOUR FLARES AFTER THEY'RE LOCKED ON. I see people using them as soon as I begin to target them. I have no idea why.. If you're being locked by a jet, make your turns as tight as possible and try not to get too far away from them if they still know where you are. That gives them a wider field of vision to watch you from and makes it harder to escape the lock.
