Ok, I'm going to try and give an unbiased review of the beta thus far.  Keep in mind that I'm not a pro at reviews so if this is misconstrued then I apologize.

Kit/class:

I have tasted every class, but chewed down hard on engineer.  I know that in the beta I'm a bit limited because there are no vehicles so that means I can't destroy things with AT mines, but little K said he used the torch to kill a camper the other day. lol!  I think that every class is pretty balanced in comparison to the rest, although I could foresee the sniper rifles being nerfed down a bit over time.

- The attatchments are pretty lame in my opinion (what ever happened to using sheer skill to kill an opponent?), although each could be useful in their own sense.  I wont break them all down, but I can say that you can do as good as your skill will allow you.  The reason I say that is because I've done well with attatchments and also played a few rounds where all of my attatchments and rank were reset and still did as good or better.

- The perks of the class are cool, i.e. Bot, motion sensors, etc...Those will compliment your skill should you know how and when to use them.

Pros of the game:

- It's fresh perspective on FPS' with the various features.
- There is more focus on teamwork than in any other BF game that I've played.
- The guns are well balanced.
- There is still destruction of environments
- The ability to move around undetected
- The continued use of spotting enemies.
- Knife/melee has been toned dow (more-so in comparison to CoD) and now you have to work harder to get tags.
- Customization is in abundance weather in game or in Battlelog.
- Great ability to flank and impact outcome of game

Cons of the game:

- Random loss of reticle.  (fixable)
- Glitchy (fixable)
- high rate of health loss. (possiblity for nerf, maybe if enough people complain about it)
- customization menu is complicated
- Reload button is same as pick up wepon off ground, so after killing someone when I try to reload I pick up an unwanted kit.  Angry
- Ride strafe while running.  (if you notice, while running your avitar soldier will run sideways if the analog moves in a particular direction.) This might be a pro for some, but I didn't like it.
- Takes too long when switching between primary/secondary weapons. (I've lost a few shoot outs because I couldn't quickly switch to pistol/RPG and finish someone off)
- Explosion splash is too low. This also may be a pro for some, but when I enter a room full of campers, I should be able to fire an RPG round and AT LEAST kill 2, much less none and die in the priocess.
- Jump should be upped a bit so you don't have to scale 2 foot tall pony walls.  I've also been killed while scaling walls when I could have easily shot them had I jumped it.
- Game chatter is too low, even with war tapes.
- It's annoying to constantly hear "be advised". "be advised, charge set", "be advised, sniper spotted in your area" (only to look on the map and not see an orange triangle), "be advised, charge difused", "be advised, I'm taking a **** on the tree in my spawn area"

There are probably a ton more that I could say for both sides, but I'm drawing blanks at the moment.

At any rate, I'm going to say that I still have high hopes for the game, but not hyped hopes.  I'll go in not expecting the best FPS ever and see how woed I am after a month or so.  For now, given the fact that we were given an older version for the beta I can only rate that and give it a 7.5/10.  I went a bit lower because of the squadding issue.  I'm almost positive that had I played the majority of the games with my WU/clan buds then the experience would have been more pleasureable, but keep in mind that not everyone has the benefit of having a forum on their friends list and don't have the luxury of having skilled/knowledgable people to play with.  Hiopefully with battlelog that an change a bit.

This is why prone comes in handy.   Azn

I don't understand. Does it switch faster when you're prone? Huh?

You're harder to hit while you reload/switch to pistol.   Roll Eyes

I still don't get it, but if you think that going into a room full of people prone is gonna work out and allow me to kill more then I guess ill try it out. Roll Eyes

I would think you would only use that tactic in a 1v1/1v2 confrontation.  If you're trying to switch to a pistol in a room full of enemies, instead of running back for cover, a faster switching pistol isn't going to help you much either.   Tongue

No, nubcakes. I meant in general the switch is slow no matter what you're switching to. I don't go into a full room weilding a pistol. I fire a rocket and quickly switch to primary or the other way around. Bit in a case where its a 1 v 1 then switching to pistol is ideal but that too is slow.

Edit:  I still don't know what going prone has to do with this scenario though. -_-

This is what jd is talking about. You said you lost a few shoot outs due to slow switch. Dropping to prone would have bought you some time by causing the opponent to miss and most likely emptying their magazine allowing you to survive longer and win.

That being said, I haven't mastered this yet. I'm just now learning to drop to prone on the first hit detection. I'm growing tired of being taken out from 300+ yards from two rounds from a PP2000.

I agree with all of K's assessment with the exception of the sniper rifles being nerfed. BC2 was bad enough. The only way to snipe someone was a headshot. Hit any other body part (even the chest) and they simply run away and find cover while you chamber another round.

BF3 would be even harder to snipe with the new scope sway and ability to drop to prone. We need to at least be able to OSKO to the chest/head with a bolt action sniper.

Thank you for the clarification Cooley. THAT makes sense. Kind of like how in BC2 you had the n00b hop when firing on someone only to die because you missed a few rounds. In this case ill just call it the n00b drop. Tongue

Yeah I don't have a problem with sniper rifle's abilities for OHK's. The reason for saying "foresee" is because I can hear all the whiny people out there just hating on the skilled marksmen to Dice and them changing it. I was fortunate that by the time I started using Saiga they were done nerfing weapons because had it been in the beginning and people realized its potential and overused it then it would have gotten in their ears and changed.

^ This.  I didn't think I'd have to type all of that out, but thanks to Cooley for taking the time.   Afro  This noob-drop tactic is used ad nauseum in CoD.

No, nubcakes....

FYI- I might have been more inclined to respond had it not been your feeble attempt at insulting me.   Wink
