Not exactly something a girl wants to hear...  Tongue

But yeah, I was super excited! Are there any other games that are as awesome as that game is? I think I like RPG more than FPS.

Well, there's Demon's/Dark Souls, but that's got a heavier focus on combat than story (though the story is there, and it's a damn good one; just isn't as focused on immersion as Elder Scrolls games are).

If you have a PC that can run it, I'd recommend Oblivion (the fourth game of the Elder Scrolls franchise), but only if you have a PC that can run it.  You want to be able to install all the user-created mods, which you can't do on consoles.  Vanilla Oblivion is pretty crappy, especially if you play it after Skyrim.  It's like going back to, well, 2006, when it was made.

Otherwise, I'm afraid nothing else quite rivals the ES franchise in terms of immersion and freedom of doing what you want.  If you are just looking for a really good story-oriented RPG with fairly simple combat, I'd highly recommend Nier.  It had the most profound impact on me that any game ever has, and that's saying something considering the thousands of dollars I've probably spent on games in my life.

There's always Fallout, which is another franchise made by Bethesda, the developers of The Elder Scrolls.  The more recent installments, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas have been called "Oblivion with guns," so you know it's up the same alley as far as freedom/immersion goes.  But, yeah, it's got guns.

I think I actually have seen people playing it. It is more the story that I like so I will consider it but I am not a big fan of combat.

I only have a laptop. I dunno if it would handle it (mostly because I don't know if/what a laptop would have to need to handle it). I really think I would like the Elder Scrolls, though.

This is the recommendation I am taking most to heart. Is that the game you used to play that had the funny chapter names?

Yeah, I'm not really into guns. I think that is one of the things I liked so much about Skyrim. I like that it was a bit more primal in ways.

In that case, do not get Demon's/Dark Souls.  It's pretty much focused on combat first and story second, and it is brutal when you're first starting out.  Only a very specific type of person will love those games.

It's similar only in the sense that you start out as a prisoner/someone with no history (a favorite of Bethesda's) and can essentially do whatever you want.  There's a main quest that can be ignored or done immediately, there are settlements with NPCs that can give you quests, there are animals and people that will try to kill you in the overworld.  That's pretty much where the similarities stop.

I think your graphics card might be incompatible.  I'll do some more research to find out for sure.

Okay, so it might not be incompatible, but it turns out that Intel graphics cards are basically poop.  I knew mine was (Intel 4 Express Series), but wasn't familiar with the HD family.  Turns out it's still in the lower end of the pack.

Is this a laptop or a desktop?  Laptops generally won't let you upgrade the graphics card, but you can with a desktop.

Laptop. I didn't get it for gaming. I literally got it to check email, get on this stinkin' site, use my iTunes, and make some videos for my students. I figured it would be too basic.

Well that's a shame.  The good news is that everything else is perfect for PC gaming.  :D
