Hey guys. Haven't been on for a while due to some crazy **** going on at work. We've had a really high turnover lately. I just thought I'd give this game a quick review in case any of you were interested in purchasing this.
Online ModeOnline mode isn't working too well. Hopefully they patch that up soon. It's not so much you can't log in, you can't even find a game. The farthest I've gone is waiting in a lobby but then it disconnects. I might edit more here when it becomes available. So far I've read there's DM, TDM, and capture the flag modes.
The Story Single Player mode is different from other Twisted Metal games, but definitely worth checking out. Some levels are traditional deathmatch where you kill all the cars. Some levels you have to race to the finish and there's always a "Juggernaut" level where you have to destroy a moving semi that keeps dropping a deuce out enemies until you destroy it. The boss battles are very epic, and so are the ending movies. I found the Single player mode to be very difficult after Sweet Tooth's storyline. Now what kills me about this game is that it only tells the stories of Sweet Tooth, Mr. Grimm, and Darkside. You have so many cars to choose from but there's no back story behind them. Why is there a car called Road Boat? Meat Wagon??
The CarsThere's a helicopter named Talon, he's so fun to use! He has boundaries with the level as to how high he can fly. He's also pretty hard to aim with unless you have weapons with homing capability. Oh yea, back to the other cars....Well, it's basically a big split. You have fast, small, weak cars and then you have big, bulky, strong cars. There's really no cars that are in the middle. They did this specifically for the Story mode. You HAVE to use the little fast cars in the race levels, and you HAVE to use the big cars in the regular Deathmatch modes. Good luck trying to use Sweet Tooth in a race level or put Talon against 2 Juggernauts. Almost every car has a primary/secondary special, although to me some secondaries are almost the same as the primary. Again, I wish the cars had more backstory.
Overall, 8/10 for this game. Fix the online, give characters a backstory, and I'd give it 10. Controls are great, moderate replay value, and a copy of TM Black if you preordered the game.
