Maybe have a cross-platform section, then an exclusives section divided into Wii, PS3, and Xbox games, then the ASE (and similar boards), then the random crap?

Exactly what I was thinking. That, and subsections including lesser genres for people like grooktook. Then, general discussion boards for stuff like the all seeing eye.

I would like to see something similar to sub reddits, if we could come up with a cool way to implement it.

i pretty much agree wholeheartedly with turbos post. especially the part about him bein annoying <3

the big turning point was definitely the lack of competition. i kinda see the mohh2 gf board as wiiunite before wu was created, and with all the known clans there it was very big. go to wawii, a few fewer clans, still some though, its pretty active just not as. conduit degenerated further. look at black ops and mw3 for wii, no clans, and they pretty much got not posts outside of the gg threads.

Ahh, it looks like Pillow's philosophy can be quickly tested, thank you boys!

And I agree, btw, we need more structure and order. Obviously, these posts are in the board meant for off topic discussions and, to an extent, spam, so the mods can really be blamed for this IMO. just in general.

i was the only mod in the beginning that said we should moderate **** Cheesy so basically, make me the only admin.

I've been toying with the idea of offering a board moderator position to people who come to the site and invite more people, essentially having these individuals act like advertisers and rewarding them appropriately.  But that may be a bad idea, and I'd like some discussion of it.
Why not? It's not like promotions on WU were ever really given based on responsibility or anything but favoritism.

Also, you can hardly call them arguments. Paranoid started false white knighting about kechua rights, so I started calling him a homo. If you notice, I don't even use that word offensively. I simply don't find it offensive. I just thought it was fun. And it has been.

So, stuff like Anime, Sports, Weightlifting/Exercising (could stay with Sports, not sure if it would get enough posts on its own), etc would all be categorized together, as child boards?  Am I understanding that right?

Unfortunately I don't think we can have separate pages like subreddits, but we could give each section its own feel.  I think you can set default themes for certain boards.  I'll look into it.

And it looks like we're all in agreement on the reorganization of the boards, so let's start hammering out where they'll go.  I would suggest having the biggest games out at the moment comprising the first section, such as BF3, MW3, etc.

Basically like this:

Big Titles (need suggestions for an actual name)
   - Battlefield 3
   - Modern Warfare 3
   - Skyrim
   - Dark Souls
   - moar

Then, under that:

Previous Big Titles (again, need suggestions)
   - Battlefield: Bad Company 2
   - Call of Duty: Black Ops
   - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
   - Demon's Souls
   - The Conduit 2
   - even moar

And then, our dead games:

Honored Dead (lololol)
  - Medal of Honor: Heroes 2
  - Call of Duty: World at War
  - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
  - The Conduit
  - etc

THEN, we get to our general boards, maybe?

General Boards
  - The All-Seeing Eye
     - The Un-Seeing Eye
     - Sports/Anime child boards go here?  Working with the old system; definitely want suggestions.
  - Artwork
  - Movies/TV Shows (maybe, as the Netflix topic seems really successful)
  - Music (again, since the general music thread is highly successful)

And then after that, we get to things like Backdraft, NDS's board, and the old clan boards.  We can deal with that as basically an afterthought.

Please critique and give suggestions.  I want everyone to contribute to this, because none of us is as smart as all of us.  PLEASE voice your opinion.

I'm still not entirely sold on the idea that we should have a larger moderator presence.  If it's necessary I don't see why we shouldn't do it; that said, I don't think we should expect to do it or start doing it now.  I think all we need to do at the moment is create a contingency plan so that if that time comes, we'll be able to act accordingly and as a unified body instead of disjointedly.  We need to know what kinds of stuff will classify as "spam," for instance.  And we need the community's input on that, because in the end the community will need to determine what it finds acceptable and not.  That is, after all, the point of having a community.

This is a good point.  It's also no secret that there are a lot of people who deserve and want positions of responsibility, and they don't have them because of favoritism.  So, I think that if this entire effort takes off and doesn't fall flat on its face, the first priority after the creation of the new sections should be to appoint those people to oversee what goes on in those sections, if not give them full mod powers.

I mean, back in our most active days, not even our admin/mod team of 12+ active members could keep up with what was happening, and as it currently stands I don't have the time to even check all the new messages each day in what could possibly be our least active month yet.  Couple that with the fact that we have only two active admins and really only two active mods (though TheKrazyOne shows up every now and then), and we're not equipped to handle any real traffic well.  Clearly, if we succeed in getting more activity, we're going to need more people to carry the workload.

If we do make a clan or team based on wiiunite, that should be the first board (as in the recruitment board). the first thing these people are gonna wanna see is the reason that they came to the site.

oh yeah i think itd be better for stuff like nds' forum to only be made viewable to everybody who can see it right now, and that's it no more. that goes for all 'gimmick' boards. what we also need is more backdraft; not as in "lolol **** i hate you all" but some guys pissin you off and youre callin him out, that raaaaw ****

Good idea.

So the updated outline looks like this:

Wii Unite Gaming Clan
  - Wii Division
     - Recruitment (child board of all divisions)
  - PS3 Division
  - Xbox Division

Big Titles (need suggestions for an actual name)
   - Battlefield 3
   - Modern Warfare 3
   - Skyrim
   - Dark Souls
   - moar

Then, under that:

Previous Big Titles (again, need suggestions)
   - Battlefield: Bad Company 2
   - Call of Duty: Black Ops
   - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
   - Demon's Souls
   - The Conduit 2
   - even moar

And then, our dead games:

Honored Dead (lololol)
  - Medal of Honor: Heroes 2
  - Call of Duty: World at War
  - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
  - The Conduit
  - etc

THEN, we get to our general boards, maybe?

General Boards
  - The All-Seeing Eye
     - The Un-Seeing Eye
     - Sports/Anime child boards go here?  Working with the old system; definitely want suggestions.
  - Artwork
  - Movies/TV Shows (maybe, as the Netflix topic seems really successful)
  - Music (again, since the general music thread is highly successful)

So something like that?

honestly, im not a fan of it, but i really cant put my finger on why nor can i think of anything different so by all means just ignore this post lol

though anime should be merged with tv. basic subgenres like tv, music, will encourage more diverse topics about music specific tv shows and ****, but we dont have the activity to filter by genre, if that makes sense.

also when WiiU launches that could kinda be a big revamp for the site or something. i mean, honestly, in the sites prime pretty much the best Wii FPSers in general posted here and honestly besides their own clans forums nowhere else. WiiU fits the name anyways, assumin we dont change it, and thats when we could start to recruit. Gotham City Impostors would be a great game to have a team for if it had **** private matches. sounds like a lot of you are on battlefield 3, but i dont have that so idk if its anything worth looking into. but if you guys are good, and i can just tell from the threads and my psn friends list that you guys play it a lot, yall should go for it.

Joel..... You are Correct Sir!   Afro
Lak -   Your topics and posts have always been fine with me.   Cool

I like a lot of the ideas coming from you guys, Turbo especially.  You are spot on about the youth movement and building on passionate gamers and their abundance of extra-curricular "free time".

Welcome the new people in, keep the old ones still interested and have tougher standards for posting a new topic -  example:  it must have a friggin' subject matter followed by an opening post that actually means something.  I know people come here to vent and get random thoughts out to share with others, but if it doesn't truly have substance, then have only 1 topic thread called Jibber-Jabber or something where it could be used as some kind of free-form artistic linguistic graffiti or something.  Not trying to sound like a grumpy gus, but it seems ( at least from other types of forums on a variety of topics I've visited ) that a well-moderated board keeps things neater and encourages more people to post.      Wink

No, you're right.  I didn't think about that when I initially thought about the TV section.  Certainly right now we don't need an anime section because, just like you said, we don't have the activity to justify breaking it down into genres like that yet.  When the time comes, we can do that.

Again, good points.  GCI would be an excellent starting point, but since that's not really viable, let's turn our attention to games that we already have a presence in, like BF3, or ones that we can all plan on getting and being relatively active in.

I don't have BF3, so I can't deal with that.  But I'll go ahead and say that anyone who organizes a GB team for Battlefield 3 (I don't care what platform) and is able to maintain that team and see it to relative success will definitely have my vote for becoming a mod once we get going again.  Basically, if you show me you're willing to help this site reclaim its past activity, that means to me that you deserve a position of responsibility.  I don't even care if you have the game.

Aside from the sentiment of clutter being a bad thing (which I agree with), I think this touches on another point, particularly in your first sentence: We have to welcome the new members in and keep them, which means we need to be nice.

Now, I'm under no illusion that I'm not one of the most unkind people on this site most of the time.  So, I'm going to work on changing that, and I would appreciate it if everyone else gave it a go, too.  You don't have to be nice, but just refrain from being mean.  Basically, as an example, don't crap on PS358 (even though it's fun and he totally deserves it <3).  Just ignore his bouts of... silliness.  See, I'm already getting better.

Here's a list of all the current boards that everyone can see.  I'd like us to keep all of them for the sake of what they hold (basically as an archive), but we obviously need to reorganize them.

Don't make it an animu board, make it a Moon Entertainment in general board. If you want it can have subsections for animu/mango and games, but its not necessary at this time.

Actually, now that you mention this, I feel like I can go ahead and say it now so that people have a heads-up.

When we start reorganizing the boards, we're also going to need to sort a whole lot of topics, too.  Even if we had a full staff of active mods and admins, that process would take days.  So, I want those who are willing to help with the moving of topics to say so before we get started.

I guess BMan and I can discuss who we'll make temporary mods for that purpose.  I wish Ohio was around, too.
