If publishers were forced to lower their prices, that would just lead to making games with even more mainstream appeal than ever. Everything would become COD.

In Canada they often start at $70 and the Canadian dollar is almost equal to the American. :/

I'm sorry, I couldn't get over how they compared Angry Birds and COD, in even the loose way they did.
Yeah, Angry Birds is dirt cheap. That's because the formula is very, very simple. It uses an elementary physics engine and implements some pretty graphics. That's it. That's all.
Whatever your opinion on COD, you've gotta admit that it's way more complicated than that, especially when you factor in the online component.
Would I like to see a drop in price for console games? Hell yeah. Do I think I'm being ripped off by spending $60 on a game that lasts me 200+ hours? Hell no.
Sorry, that just bugged me. It is completely unfair to compare Angry Birds, a game that could be written by one person over the course of a few months, to a game like COD, which takes a full team of programmers nearly a year to write.

The problem is that many gamers who aren't considered hardcore don't realize the efforts put into a game. My dad always compares Farmville to my 360 games and it always frustrates me as well.

why does the same game cost the same amount when downloaded or bought at the store? I find this wrong because I understand the upping the price because of material/packaging but downloadable games don't use any of that and really should cost atleast $5 less then those bought in the store, maybe they just price in the convenience and gas money

They also save a lot by not having to distribute it through another source (like gamestop). I don't know how they distribute it through PSN, 360 or Steam, but at least with Origin they handle it all themselves.
