I'll be going for a PS4, a pc down the line and even further down a WiiU.
I've given everyone 5 different votes and the ability to change vote. As information comes out down the line and you find yourself wanting/not wanting something, you can change it.
Also, please post any rumored specs that you come across online and discuss anything that would be revolutionary or that you just want to see in a console. What is absolutely necessary for the next generation of consoles to include?
Please sticky so we can monitor changes in opinion as time goes on.
Edit:
Please don't vote for the platforms you WANT. Choose only the ones you honestly plan on buying.

Only voted for Xbox "720" because I like how Microsoft treats hackers/modders and most of my friends IRL have a 360 at the moment. Also, I wouldn't consider an Apple product or PC a console...

I'm hopefully getting a PC before too very long. Besides that, the PS4. I'm still uncertain on the WiiU.

Is it just my laptop or is the lower-case letter "g" being cut off at the bottom?

I'll obviously be getting the WiiU, but maybe also a new laptop later down the line which I guess can be used for gaming.

Hm, I wouldn't say they are consoles either but they should be mentioned here as well as more than just an alternative. PC has the capacity to run most anything you can throw it's way so in many ways it's better than console. Plus, with this next generation of consoles I think the line dividing the two will blur even more since they are supposedly using off the shelf tech to power consoles rather than use proprietary stuff. Apple is supposedly working on some kind of game device of sorts although maybe not a dedicated console. I'm hopefully getting a PC before too very long. Besides that, the PS4. I'm still uncertain on the WiiU.
Actually, I thought about it and figured it would be better to get a pc or laptop before the PS4 since it's obviously a good distance down the pipeline. I don't know if I should get a pc or laptop though. The WiiU...well I need my Nintendo fix man. The thing is that I read that when it comes out, it's going to be like the Wii all over again. It might be stronger than the current generation but that's not really saying much. I feel that when it releases it's already going to be 1 year outdated. I'm really unsure about it but I'd like to think that it will be okay somehow.

As for the desktop vs laptop question, I guess the most important thing to ask yourself is if you're going to be traveling a lot of places where you'll need/want a computer. If that will be frequent, I'd suggest a laptop with some nice accessories so it can also double as a makeshift desktop.

That sounds like a good idea. I actually do prefer mobility and compact size since I looked around and don't really have a good spot for a pc and desk. I really hate giving up the ability to upgrade though. How much more powerful would a desktop be vs a laptop?

The WiiU is going to be another piece of **** like the Wii. A gimmick, with a whole bunch of Mario/Zelda games like every other Nintendo system.
Nintendo went down the shitter after the N64. That is one of the greatest systems of all time.
I might be buying a PS4/New XBOX. Why would I plan on buying either, though? We know nothing about these systems yet.

Rofl. I'd suggest a laptop with some nice accessories so it can also double as a makeshift desktop.
That's what I'm doing. Also, DON'T GO CHEAP ON A MOUSE. Anything under $30 will be garbage. Anything wireless under $40 will most likely be garbage. You'll want to get a wireless if you're using it for a laptop. They do have a tiny bit more lag (I've never even noticed, but it's there) but it's worth not having the cord snag on everything around you. How much more powerful would a desktop be vs a laptop?
The thing is, there's a point where upgrading doesn't really make much of a difference unless you have to play on the highest quality in every game, can't settle for a single bit of noticeable lag, etc. I'm not saying buying better parts is pointless, but unless you're playing nonstop or rendering huge videos each day, you're not really getting your money's worth.

What difference does the mouse make?
Let's put it this way. If I want to play BF3 on pretty good settings (even max settings on occasion), will a laptop be able to satisfy my needs? Is there anything with enough grunt that won't cost an arm and a leg and still be able to do other things besides just play games?
Basically I'm looking for the Chevy Corvette of laptops. Can hang with the supercars or cruise down the widing road.

That's what I'm looking for, which is why I'm getting an HP for $850. i7 processor, 8g RAM, 6770 gpu. The processor might be overkill, but I don't want something that will be useless in a few years. From what I understand, it will run BF3 on the highest settings, but optimal performance would be a step lower. But I don't actually have one yet so I can't say for sure. http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/notebooks/dv6tqe_series/rts/4/computer_store/QE023UA%2523ABAAnd don't think I'm a computer genius or anything, this is just from what I've seen.

Name: SuperBadChick Classification: Rogue Primary Combat Style: Ranged Secondary Combat Style: Stealth Bio: The way SBC approaches combat may be seen by some to be cowardly or dishonorable, but in reality SBC deals strictly with what is practical. After all, the best way to not be impaled by a broadsword is to be out of its reach entirely. Instead of meeting her foes head-on, SBC prefers to use a bow and arrows to fell her enemies from a (safe) distance. For those occasions lacking a sufficiently large battlefield, SBC uses her knowledge of the magic arts to cloak herself in shadow and flanks her targets, quietly slitting the throats of the men in the back of enemy lines with her silver dagger. Should the situation become too hostile for a lightly armored warrior such as herself, she will flee from the battlefield and live to fight another day. After all, a dead warrior is no use to anyone.
