As long as you don't drop the hard drive or something, you'll be fine.  Hard drives use non-volatile memory, which is just a fancy computer term meaning they will retain whatever information they have regardless of if they are removed from a power source.  So yeah, you're fine.

If for some reason you aren't sure how to remove it (it's pretty easy and you're competent with tools and stuff), here's a tutorial:
