This thread will be my training log that I will post in up until the meet day. It's hard to find open track meets around here, and this one is only a 2 hour drive from my house. It's a small meet, where noobs compete, but it is open to anyone, so I might as well go.
My goal is to jump 6'10" or higher at the meet. My personal best is 6'6". IDGAF Now, wish me luck, give me motivation, tips, etc. ok here we go

Rested for a few hours, then did Ab Ripper X and 30 minutes of yoga. Ice bath was well deserved.

No more 2v2 CoD4 matches from you mister!
Out of curiosity, how fast is the average mile in these meets? Just so I know where i stand, i play soccer and work out 3 or 4 times a week and that's all i do to keep in shape. I wish i could be in the same shape as you guys, but im not committed enough.
Oh and how long will this log last/ when's the meet?

Not a bad idea if "[ Nds ][ /Nds ]" made your text selection into caps.

I'll keep the log going until the day of the meet, and I'll let you all know my result. Meet is August 14th @ 5:30PM EST for some reason... Not too many people compete in this meet judging from past year results, but it's the only one I could find mid-August.
The average mile of a typical "open" meet might be around 4:30. Depends on if college kids are competing, or if it's just a noob-friendly meet. Some open meets could have 4 minute milers while others have nearly 5 minute milers.
@GeneralGrant After I finished each set of those dips, my triceps were burning like ****.

Wow, so over a month of training, good luck. It was a good idea to keep a log so that you can stay committed.
I'm haven't clocked myself in a mile since Middle school, and i ran just under 6 minutes. That was like 5 or 6 years ago so i want to see how much I've improved, but i probably cant get near that 4:30 mark.

^ See if there are open meets around your area. You could always pace yourself with the people who run in the same meet. http://www.directathletics.com is a good place to search for meets, especially during winter/spring because that's when the majority of open meets are held.
