Did a kettlebell workout today, but used a dumbbell since there were no KBs in sight.



All exercises were done with a 35lb Dumbbell.

1.
Goblin Squats x12 reps
Bent Over Rows x10 reps
One-Arm Bench Press x10 reps


x3

2.
Side Lunge x10 reps
One-Arm Clean/Press x10 reps
Between Legs Swings x10 reps


x3

3.
One-Leg Stiff DL x8 reps
Squat Hold x10-20 seconds
Pushup w/ Row x8 reps


x3

Physio Ball Bridges 3x10



Did about 5 mins. of ab work and 30 or so minutes of stretching later on.

The meet director for the August 12th meet finally got back to me... HJ will take place that day, so I'm going to jump at that meet instead of the August 14th meet (shorter drive, better track surface, some more competition).

UPDATE:


Well, I drove 1.5 hours to this track meet today. The high jump surface was absolute ****. It was mostly grass, and the mat was filled with dust/dirt so every time I would land on it, my eyes would get rap3d.




Anyways, I entered the competition at 6' (1.83m), and missed all three jumps. My steps were all messed up, but I don't really care about the end result.
I'm ready for August 12th. The track will be MUCH nicer, and I'll work on my steps more. I may even enter the competition at 6'2" on Sunday.

The hang cleans felt really sloppy overall, today, especially the first few. I'm not sure why I was so rusty, but I still got 175lbs x2 so that was decent.

Yeah, you're right. I took yesterday easy (just did 5+ mins. of abs), and today will also just involve some stretching and icing. I need my legs to be fresh. Hopefully the weather is nice tomorrow and I will make sure to get my steps down correctly.

Well, I was the only one competing in the High Jump today. Nobody else showed up. It was hot as fawkkk.


I entered the competition at 6'2" (1.88m) and only cleared it on my third, final attempt. Then had three very close attempts at 6'4" (1.93m). Overall, very disappointing for me. My knee didn't really bother me, but I can tell it's much weaker than my right knee.

All of my attempts were very close, but it's still frustrating. I'm not sure how to move forward, to jump higher, but I don't want to quit just yet.

I'm going to make sure that I push myself as far as possible, every day. For the rest of the summer (3 weeks until I go back to school), I am going to push myself so that I have nothing left at the end of each day (maybe 2 easier days each week to let my body recover). I'm going to eat more, pay more attention to rehab/prehab exercises, icing, etc..



In fact, today I'm going to do some lunges for 30 mins. later tonight, holding a 12lb medball overhead. Before that, I'm going to do some core work for 20 mins. or so.


Tomorrow will most likely involve some hill sprints if I can find a nice hill, and lifting. lo ve
