That isn't stereotyping. You stereotype a group by assuming all its members share certain attributes that you think (or have been told) are common in the group. Exactly. On what grounds have you called yourself a nerd? If I was adamant in the pursuit of education or socially impaired one could assume I was a nerd, but I myself may not consider it as so. If someone called me one, though, I could see why. In the same sense, when a (presumably racist) INS agent called me a wetback at the airport once, I thought to myself, "I can see how/why he would say that." I used that specific example to show you how stupid stereotypes are, because you understand how race influences daily life thanks to living in the South. My example would display the same ignorance as saying "People on welfare are lazy and take advantage of the system with no intention of working for themselves". It's a generalization used by detractors of social welfare and isn't at all accurate. Wow, way to take things out of context. I used an example of what I've seen, but have NEVER said that it represents all people.

Exactly. On what grounds have you called yourself a nerd? I play video games, wear glasses, am highly interested in science and mathematics, and most importantly I choose to identify as a nerd. This is irrelevant. If I was adamant in the pursuit of education or socially impaired one could assume I was a nerd, but I myself may not consider it as so. Okay? So? This couldn't be any less relevant to what we're talking about. If someone called me one, though, I could see why. In the same sense, when a (presumably racist) INS agent called me a wetback at the airport once, I thought to myself, "I can see how/why he would say that." You should know by now how I feel about personal anecdotes. Wow, way to take things out of context. I used an example of what I've seen, but have NEVER said that it represents all people.
Out of context, hmm? That sounds so terribly familiar. the uneducated & lazy far outweigh the educated in society.
You're implying that those who are on welfare programs are lazy and uneducated. But please, continue backpedaling.

"Far outweighs" is the phrase, sir. That does not mean all. Why are you still assuming I meant it that way?

For those occasions lacking a sufficiently large battlefield, SBC uses her knowledge of the magic arts to cloak herself in shadow and flanks her targets, quietly slitting the throats of the men in the back of enemy lines with her silver dagger. After all, a dead warrior is no use to anyone.

The fact that Romney is being pushed as the Republican nominee and Ron Paul isn't.... is a big fat joke. Romney is a guy whom I wouldn't even feel safe having in my home for a dinner, but RP and Obama seem like people you can actually talk to. Romney constantly flip flops his positions on issues + he comes off as a crook.

I don't get the accusations of him being a crook. People are angry because he has found loopholes in a broken system and has made a ton of money off of them. People hate the rich because they aren't rich.

"Far outweighs" is the phrase, sir. That does not mean all. Bull. The quote is that the lazy and uneducated far outweigh the educated. You're implying that people on welfare are uneducated and lazy. Even if you recognize that all of them aren't that way, you're still assuming that that's a characteristic the majority of that group shares, which we've already established is wrong. And, if you recognize that not all of the are uneducated and lazy, why would you assume most of the are? Do you have any data to back that up? Any studies? No. You have personal anecdotes. Why are you still assuming I meant it that way?
Because I'm literate. If you didn't mean it that way, I suggest you take measures to explain exactly what you meant. How do you feel about personal anecdotes?
They couldn't be less relevant when it comes to science or social policy. That's how I feel about them. They are not evidence for anything.

Do we want a man to lead the FREE WORLD who exploits loopholes? Why on earth? There are a million better candidates for the job, many with P.h.d.'s rather than wall street profits lol.
As a trader, I feel no one from the street should be allowed near the political arena. Traders, investors, money managers, etc are all greedy as sin and nothing matters more than profits. People on the street are conditioned to be emotionless.
What loopholes will he exploit as president? Bypassing congress to go to war like Bush did? Who knows. Scary stuff.

Considering the policies of the U.N., someone who can exploit loopholes is a plus.
Why is a Ph.D better than wall street profits? The people who make money on wall street tend to have an idea what's going on in society, and they understand how economics really work. A broke economist with a Ph.D isn't a very smart economist.

But when someone uses one to prove a point I think they're silly.

the bigger problem with him being so rich is that he obv can't relate to the average voter at all.

Mitt Romney a master economst??? Wall Street is full of boneheads. They are good at one thing, taking as much as they can whenever they can. Most are not master economists. They are aware of how the market moves yes, but they have no long-term forecasting abilities, and even if they do, they simply don't care. Make money now and let the general public clean up the mess. If you gave control of the world to Wall Street, 90% of the world would become a slave race while they hoard yachts, homes and strippers. Oh wait, this sounds too familiar... Wall Street is full of wide-eyed, money-hungry, feverish rats. It is mind boggling we let them get control over our economy and government. The whole country gives them our retirement, and they steal it. Where do you think all their profits come from? It is a zero sum game. Someone loses, and it isn't them. They keep getting richer, and who is getting poorer? The lower classes. The federal government. The states. They are sucking money right out of the marketplace like a vacuum, and yet our entire economic system is built around them.

He's getting richer because he knows what he's doing. The people that bitch and complain about wealth disparity are those at the bottom of the ladder, because they are jealous of those at the top.
The purpose of investing is to make money, not to give money away, and Romney is doing extremely well. Sorry you can't keep up.
