Dave, are you talking about the low hit that took out our nose tackle?

This whole Richardson thing is a weird situation for the Browns.
On one hand, he's a ridiculously talented RB who's phenomenal after contact, making relatively little money compared to the top RB's in the league, the only star on the offensive side of the ball (although Gordon could be soon), and was a high draft pick just a season ago.
On the other hand, Weeden is fucking terrible and they badly need a QB. Starting Hoyer and selling the rest of the offensive weapons could lead to a high drat pick, possibly battling Oakland the Jaguars for the rights to Teddy Bridgewater assuming he declares. They could also land Tajh Boyd if Bridgewater doesn't declare. Lombardi has no ties to Richardson since he wasn't around when he was drafted. Richardson also lacks the lateral agility to cut like other backs in the league and he probably isn't in the class of Charles/McCoy/AP/Lynch.
Cleveland isn't really all that far off from where Seattle was in 2011. The defense is super underrated and given a legitimate franchise QB, they would instantly be better than Baltimore and Pittsburgh, and possibly even Cincinnati because Andy Dalton isn't all that great himself.
Looking at the RB talent drafted in the mid rounds recently (LeSean McCoy, Jamaal Charles, Ray Rice, Christine Michael, Lamar Miller), there's no real reason to spend a first round pick on a RB.
Would I have made that trade? I don't know, I doubt it. I wouldn't be against trading him but the price was a little low, from what I've seen of Richardson anyways.

It's an obvious "we're rebuilding for the future" move. It sucks for the fans but hey, they've been patiently waiting for a good team for....ever, so what's another year?

they traded a 3rd overall pick that they picked 2 years ago that has elite skills for what will turn out to be a pick in the 20's. GM is on crack IMO

It's a sunk cost. You're not getting a 3rd overall pick for Trent anymore. At which point it just becomes a talent evaluation. If Ruskell had traded Curry immediately after drafting him, pretty sure everyone would have gone insane, but it would be have the right move in hindsight no?
Draft position is irrelevant once the investment has been made. Get value if you see value.

they also traded there 1st 4th 5th and 7th to get into that 3rd spot, so really they traded trent plus a fourth 5th and 7th for a 1st, way to go clevand. Trent will be a stud in indy and you can't compare him to curry dude

You can compare him to any player you want. The talent at RB in the league right now is ridiculous and a 1st round pick can easily be worth more than Richardson.
Lombardi had nothing to do with those trades during the draft, so what he sees is a RB on his roster that he can get a 1st round pick for. That's it.

Let's put this in real life terms.
You buy Apple stock for $460 a share or whatever it's sitting at. A year later, it's dropped to $260 a share and this is the highest it will ever be again. Do you sit there and lose more money or do you take the $260 a share?
It's not about what the Browns paid for Richardson, it's about the value they can get out of him, and Lombardi and co. decided it's not as high as a mid first round pick and a boost to their original pick in the draft.

^This Plus they were not winning with him and injuries are a concern. Good move for the Browns.

I'm still not convinced that it was a good trade but I do see the reasoning now. Time will tell on this one

Seattle man handled Jacksonville, as they should have. I can't wait to hear Autumn boast about Pryor's stat line now against Jacksonville compared to what Wilson has done.
Watched TR34 more closely this week, talent is there but man is he indecisive. Hit the fucking lane when you see it. Fixable but he won't be a star until he understands that.
