Only two teams in Superbowl history have lost the Superbowl while winning the yardage battle and the turnover battle, the 05 Seahawks and the 14 Seahawks.
I was hoping you guys would win this year so you would maybe forget about 05 but I guess that's not gonna happen

Now that the dust has settled, I will submit a little Super Bowl story for your amusement. I always get in a few $500 block pools. This year, I split one 5 ways with friends, and another 4 ways with family. Since the blocks are fairly pricey, your numbers change each quarter.
While I normally appreciate gutsy play calling, I have to say that Pete Carroll cost us a fair amount of money. But I digress. Let me back up to the middle of the 2nd quarter. After New England went up 7-0, we were all cheering for another Patsies TD for a possible 14-0 halftime score. This would give us the winning combo of 4-0.
But the Seahawks changed all that with Martin's 44 yd completion. All hope seemed lost when Skittles hit the end zone with about 2:30 left to tie the score at 7-7. Of course we started talking about what could happen to get the score back, and it was obvious that a quick NE TD followed by a Seachicken FG would do the trick. (You see back in 2009, when Kurt Warner and the Cardinals were on the 1 yard line with 15 seconds left in the half, I told my brother-in-law that a pick 6 would give us the halftime score. We always look at what COULD happen, no matter how ridiculous it seems. James Harrison showed us just how un-ridiculous that can be.)
The Patriots gracefully complied, driving 80 or so yards in about 2 minutes. The Seahawks looked to be with us, too, with Lockette's catch and run to the 22. 6 seconds left? 22 yards to go? A field goal is a no-brainer. Until we saw the flag. That put the ball on the 11. Despite our screams of "KICK THE **** BALL", they went for, and got, the TD.
Like I said, I normally appreciate gutsy calls. But that one cost us $10,000.
Oh, and if the Seahawks would've scored on that last possession, then we would've had a "good neighbor" block. Only $500, but getting your money back is better than nothing at all. So that interception was just Murphy's law coming out all over again.
tl;dr Pete Carroll cost me $2K
