Nah, I feel ya.  I've seen it all too many times where one very miniscule phrase gets exploded into a religious debocle when it wasn't even necessary.

Staying on topic but interjecting religion into it, I say no, because none of the authors said they ate, smoked, snorted, or injected something that gave them visions or abilities to phrophesy. That leaves no room for speculation, in my opinion.

Joseph Smith had to be on something if he believed a crystal ball would find him treasure.

It's plausible, but I think the far more likely explanation is ignorance.

Oh, thunder?  Yeah that's god.  He's angry.

Though, stuff like a burning bush that doesn't actually burn... that was either a lie or a hallucination.  By definition, something burning will turn to ash.  That's what burning is.

I always wondered if the people who wrote the bible weren't actually religious at all, but rather, had a great understanding of how to manipulate people.

Religion is interesting to talk about, but not when people believe their views to be 100% true. THAT is the difference.

the very concept of faith implies that you don't know your believes to be 100% truth. If it was the 100% truth, it wouldn't just be a belief. It would be a cold hard, proven and reprovable fact. If your concept of God has to exist without any possible room for error, then you don't believe in God at all. Likewise, Atheists who claim to be 100% certain that there is no God are just as much in the wrong. (Atheism is faith-based as well, don't listen to what others tell you)

The f***?  No it's not.

Gnostic atheism, which is what you described, is faith-based as it's impossible to prove the nonexistence of anything.  Atheism, the lack of belief in a god, is not faith-based.

yeah but 9 out of 10 internet atheists would definitely describe themselves as "believing in the non-existence of a God" as opposed to simply lacking believe in a God. Thought it would be obvious that I was referring to Gnostic Atheism.

Highly doubt it.  Got a source for that?

It's called hyperbole dude. Didn't realize not putting the gnostic in front of atheism would offend you, my bad.

If you doubt that many Atheists think that way, go to any popular religion debate board on the internet and see for yourself.
