We all know the only olympics that Canadia has a shot at winning anything in is the winter olympics.

What the hell is the point of competition if not to win? We produce the most winners because we work the hardest and allow everyone the chance to be what they want to be. Its not a fluke that America is the sole superpower. We play to win. If you don't work hard to be the best and destroy your competition, you are not going to win.

This is loosely related but applying what you just said about sports to education, it's also no fluke that the U.S is full of f ucktards while other countries keep growing more and more intelligent people. It's also not a fluke that one of the only things keeping the U.S as a world power is military strength while China just keeps growing politically and economically. I think the priorities are a bit backward.

It's also not a fluke that one of the only things keeping the U.S as a world power is military strength while China just keeps growing politically and economically. I think the priorities are a bit backward. China also steals our technology, oppresses their people, inflates their currency, and has a huge facking population to pull from. I know from experience that Chinese products are mainly stolen technology and poorly built. They are advancing rapidly, but they are still no where near us. But, they will keep improving and we had better get our **** together over here if we want to stay ahead. Our political system is totally **** anymore, imo. Also, I believe one of the main reasons we are not doing well in education is due to all this liberal, politically correct BS that has permeated our country lately. Kids are growing up to be taught that everyone is a winner, only to find out when they hit the real world that you don't get **** without putting in the effort. I strongly believe that we should be trying to teach our kids that they aren't going to get **** unless they work for it. I don't believe in giving people money who don't deserve it (food stamps and all) because they didn't put in the effort to succeed. I don't want to work hard while some **** sits on his ass collecting government assistance off my tax money. That's socialism.

It's not just about winning. It's about good sportsmanship. It's about working hard and trying. This is what the Olympics represent. This is the official Olympic creed: "The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well." It's fine being patriotic and proud of one's country but to only value winning is wrong. That's just my opinion. I'm not really sure how you can say you work the hardest. Obviously every athlete works hard. Otherwise they wouldn't be in the Olympics.

I didn't mean to come off like that, honestly I was just talking **** for the most part. But, I do believe that American (not all of them of course) work hard as **** to be the best they can. We have to because that's what our society is (or at least was) based on. You can achieve anything you want here, if you are willing to overcome the challenges life gives you. I think we usually dominate in the Olympics because strive to be the best at everything we can. Sure, we have a large population as DDD has pointed out several time, but we are not the biggest by any means. Why doesn't India or any other huge country overcome us? I believe it's due to the fact that in America everyone has a chance to succeed, which is not the case in most other countries. Why does Britain do so well? They are tiny. But, they allow their citizens to become what they want and they have the will and desire to win.

This is quite possibly the funniest thing I've read all day. It has absolutely nothing to do with opportunity and funding...
