Its not a fluke that America is the sole superpower.
not sure if srs or just an idiot. Well, you should know by now I'm not an idiot. Explain why you said that instead of just making an easy, regurgitated remark.

What the hell is the point of competition if not to win? We produce the most winners because we work the hardest and allow everyone the chance to be what they want to be. Its not a fluke that America is the sole superpower. We play to win. If you don't work hard to be the best and destroy your competition, you are not going to win.
This is quite possibly the funniest thing I've read all day. It has absolutely nothing to do with opportunity and funding... Please elaborate. Athletes can work hard because they are given the opportunity to by the olympic programs in your country. Do you seriously think that someone from Uganda is given the same training and funding as Michael Phelps is? The US chooses to spend their money differently than other countries. It doesn't mean the US works harder than everyone else.

It doesn't mean the US works harder than everyone else. The us doesn't choose to spend more money on sports. The people that live here have the opportunity to decide for themselves to spend money on sports. We have money and opportunity because we have historically worked harder than other countries to win at everything we can. Canada could do more, but you guys are pu****s and don't want to put in the work or step on anyone's toes to get ahead. We want to win no matter the cost, so we do. You think the people in Uganda are in the position they are in because of bad luck? They can't rise up as a nation and do what they need to because the people don't take the steps to progress. They don't dispose of the corrupt leaders, educate themselves, or stand together as a nation to achieve a common goal. There are African countries that prosper.

So it's just a mere coincidence that Canadian's do so much better in the winter olympics where funding is increased?

Not only that, on a per capita basis, the United States got fisted by Canada in the medal count. The US doesn't do anything better than any other country other than having a lot of people. Well done on being against birth control.

Mhm, yes, using your "factor of 9" argument... Canada: 9 Gold; 45 Silver; 108 Bronze; 162 total I would be proud too

Canada does better in the winter olympics because its ducking colder up there dude. We don't have as much cold weather so there are less people interested in winter sports here. Wtf do you keep bringing up funding for anyway? We don't fund sports for the olympics. Americans generally could give two ducks about the olympics. I don't even know where the hell these pro water polo, curling, etc... athletes come from. Here, is all about baseball, basketball, football, soccer , hockey, etc. you know, real sports.

Complete contradictions. Either the US is full of the greatest athletes because you guys try the hardest, or you guys just have a ton of people.

Well China has what? 6x the people as the US and practically hand-pick people to play who show talent at an early age. They are definitely the country that tries the hardest and has the larger population but they still lost regardless. Not everyone in the US has the same opportunity to be great considering everything cost money. Gabby Douglas's mom was seriously about to pull her out of gymnastics because she couldn't afford it. Imagine if that had happened. There could be a child prodigy gymnast somewhere whose parents can not afford to pay for their training or whose parents are scumbags who won't let the kid live their dream. Australia has ~19 million people, brought over 500 athletes to the Olympics and won more medals than Canada. Basically, what I'm saying is population can give you an advantage but it's not everything and not the only reason why US has so many great athletes. You still need, you know, the athletes and some type of support for them which many don't get, especially in sports that aren't "the main 3" US sports (basketball, football, baseball). US is only the land of opportunity if you have the money and support for said opportunity. And last time I checked Canada is not a third-world country so don't act like Canadians don't have opportunities in athletics... Another point, Canada is so great in the Winter Olympics because not many countries live in cold climates where they can train for things like that, therefore, Winter sports are not nearly as popular as Summer sports. You're pretty much negating two-thirds of the world in the Winter Olympics.

The olympics is already negating a ton of the sports in the world.
None that Canada would be a serious contender in. But I really don't know why they don't have Rugby or why it hasn't even been considered, to my knowledge. They should add Rugby and Cricket ASAP.

There's tons that are excluded, and it doesn't really matter if Canada would benefit from them. It just means that you aren't get a true representation of the talent of a countries people.
