"They can't rise up as a nation and do what they need to because the people don't take the steps to progress. They don't dispose of the corrupt leaders, educate themselves, or stand together as a nation to achieve a common goal."
Let me also point out that this is ignorant, arrogant and embarrassing. You couldn't even dream of the situation the Syrians, Egyptians, North Koreans and others are in. Don't act like you would fearlessly rise up and rebel with your life on the line. Don't act like you were apart of the American Revolution, lmao.
This attitude is the reason so much of the world hates the US. Our way is better and if you don't like it, we'll blow you to pieces. God Bless America.

I don't expect you guys to read all of these links, but there is some good info in there: http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2004/may/01/gold-behind-the-gold-the-sport-of-olympic/The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and related organizations spent more than $400 million in 2000 alone more than $1 million a day. http://www.investinganswers.com/investment-ideas/commodities-precious-metals/you-wont-believe-what-america-spends-win-olympic-gold-tThe U.S. Olympic Committee shelled out more than $232 million in 2008 to help American athletes win 110 medals in Beijing -- the site of the previous Summer Olympic Games. That's $2.1 million per medal, but doesn't include the cash kicked in by each sport's governing body from sponsors, donors and special events. For example, USA Basketball took a little less than $1 million from the USOC to send the men's and women's teams to China four years ago, but spent $5.8 million overall on gold-medal efforts from LeBron James, Diana Taurasi and company. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/datablog/2012/aug/13/olympics-2012-cost-per-medal-team-gb-fundingTotal UK Sport funding for the London 2012 Olympics was £264,143,753, up from £235,103,000 spent on the Beijing Games. http://sports.nationalpost.com/2012/07/31/canada-finishes-fifth-in-olympic-gymnastics-but-experience-is-what-matters/Canada, she said, funded its Olympic preparations — as well as its junior program — on a shoestring budget of about $285,000. Fletcher estimated the Americans worked with a budget of more than $2 million. OTP spent an average of $30-million over the past three years. Bottom line is that Canada spent about $90 Million in training athletes over the past 3 years getting ready for 2012 and if you compare to the UK $200+ Million pounds and the US (I couldn't get a total for the 4 years leading up to 2012) in 2000 alone spent $400 Million (that's just one year) and $232 Million in 2008 alone. Of course because the US has more people and is a wealthier country I would guess they also get more sponsorship money too. So, if you add all of that together, it gives US athletes wayyyyyyyyyyyy more money to train, which translates into better results. Larger population and more money obviously equals a lot more medals. Keep in mind, there are only the top 3 spots in each event that get a medal.... So, any male cattle dung about just trying harder and being better is simply male cattle dung.

why do you guys put so much focus on funding? money doesn't produce talent. do you really think that Canada would win more medals than us, or anyone else for that matter, if you had thrown the most money at training for the last four years? give me a **** break. I'm not saying Americans are better athletes because Americans are just better. I'm saying that our country's attempted goal of providing an environment where anyone can succeed, our culture of competitiveness, our general want to be the absolute best at everything we do, and our national pride provides the best environment to produce winners. and btw DDD, resorting to fat jokes is a pretty damn weak. lol I know my country is pretty **** up right now is some ways, but I'm still proud to call myself an American and we are still the world leader whether you like it or not. I detest a lot of stuff that is happening here lately, but I wouldn't want to live somewhere else because of it... except maybe on a tropical island or some ****, lol. btw, I've been eating a lot of xanax lately so I realize my points are all over the place and i'm rambling a bit. I just enjoy arguing with DDD.

It's more complicated than just funding, but what I proved is that funding is crucial. Prove that it's not related to funding. Every article you read about winning medals at the Olympics is focused on money and how much it cost to win a gold medal. Another major factor, as we mentioned, is population. If you have a smaller pool of people to choose from then there are fewer top athletes. Your argument of we are just better has no merit. Find some facts about US athletes just being genetically better.

I don't think Americans are just better. I just think our country provides the best environment to encourage and produce the best athletes. If it was just about money and population, then China should have tripled our medal count.

Let's flip the question. Why does the US put so much focus on funding if it doesn't really matter? I'm not saying Americans are better athletes because Americans are just better. I'm saying that our country's attempted goal of providing an environment where anyone can succeed, our culture of competitiveness, our general want to be the absolute best at everything we do, and our national pride provides the best environment to produce winners.
So your athletes are given a better opportunity than in other countries. I pointed that out a while ago. Try and keep up Lukkas. and btw DDD, resorting to fat jokes is a pretty damn weak. lol
It's not a joke, it's just an observation. Americans are fat. I don't think Americans are just better. I just think our country provides the best environment to encourage and produce the best athletes. If it was just about money and population, then China should have tripled our medal count.
Except China is set up totally different than the United States. The number of people that get a chance to be an athlete in China is probably around the same as the United States.
