Technically this is also on the PSP, but I just got it on STEAM so yeah

http://store.steampowered.com//app/206250

So I'm absolutely blown away by this game. It's a top down action rpg, with an absurd amount of depth and customization, and uses elements from both traditional adventures as well as other genre's like roguelikes.

The combat is pretty simple, but well handled. You move around top down legend of zelda style with a pretty good degree of precision. You dodge stuff and slash stuff. You can jump, block, slide, and unlock a bunch of spells and abilities. It's simple but the challenges/enemies/bosses are well designed enough to make it pretty fun.

Also besides the level based normal game, there's also an alternate roguelike style dungeon crawl world, which is composed of randomly generated dungeons, filled with tons of traps, enemies, bosses, and such. I have to say this mode is insanely addictive, especially with the intensity added from the risk of losing everything you got if you die before finding an escape warp.

Also you can completely customize every aspect of your characters appearance, pixel by pixel. You can do the same with weapons and armor, applying your own sprites to them.

HERE'S SOME SCREENS I TOOK

Maybe I'll upload some gameplay footage later. I HIGHLY recommend this game to anyone who likes action, rpg's, deep games, customization, exploration, character building, epic battles, and creativity.

MAYBE

And yeah I wanna record a random dungeon run as soon as I can. This is actually my second favorite game this year after PSO2

Remember when I said I like how you have to commit to attacks more in Pso2? Cladun is similar in that respect. The only weapons that you can use with instant start up in CX2 are daggers which have very short reach. Anything that has long reach has a second of reactionable start up time. Unlike Pso2, you can actually block cancel most of these attacks at any time. However, your dash/slide isn't as fast as the one in PSO2, so even if you cancel your attack it can still be very difficult to get out of the way in time.

Only weapon that can't be cancelled I think is Speer, but that's because it's the long range "keep enemies at a distance" style weapon, so it makes sense you take more of a risk.

Another thing I like is that different weapons in this game of the same weapon type have different start up times. Different swords have different start up times as well. I like the way that PSO2 handles combos and special abilities more though.

Also the magic circle system is neat. It does two things at once: let's you simulate having a party in a game where your effectively solo in all dungeons. And gives you a good degree of customization on your stats. Basically, you choose your main character, and then set other characters as "sub characters" who lend you stats and abilities and such. Everyone gains exp when you fight, and the main character gains some of the stats that subs level up, as well as their class ability I THINK.

After seeing a few videos I will judge this as a Legend of Zelda style game as a Demon's Souls Hybird. Please go on. tell me about the menus and this "deep customization".

Well, you for aesthetic customization you have many options. You can change your characters face pixel by pixel on all 4 sides. Body too essentially since you can edit armor, feet, and hands. Some people have gone so far as to turn their characters into dragon riders with this alone. You can also change hair physics and expressions to some extent to.

Gameplay wise, you have a bunch of classes, with 3 or so more becoming unlocked later. The magic circle aids in customization a lot, since you can very effectively change what stats and abilities your character focuses on. And as you progress you gain more magic circles that allow you to assign sub characters in different formations to focus on different things. What magic circles you get is also effected by class. You can also switch classes later on and retain abilities and stats. Weapons of course come in different varieties and can have affixes and titles. There's more I think but that's all i'm up to.

Also you can compose your own music.

AMAZING! Surely this must be fiction and this game does not exist.

It's pretty good.

I also like how they even incoporated stealth into the game somewhat. With enemies that won't start chasing you unless you move into their line of sight. A lot of dungeons if you just dash through you'll end up with a giant mob of higher level enemies chasing you and will eventually get backed up into a corner where you can't evade. Things will be bad. I know one of the advanced classes you can unlock is Ninja. I hope they have greater reliance on this.

Second favorite game of the year after PSO2 and Skullgirls.

Is it possible to compare this game to Isaac? Also multiplayer, local?

Yeah I'd definitely compare it to Isaac. Outside of having more melee combat, and replacing Isaac's unique power up system with dedicated rpg elements, it feels very similar. In the random dungeons at least.

Multiplayer alas no. A shame because some sort of Demon's Souls style invasion pvp or co op would work wonderfully well with the system the game has.
