Here are my thoughts i would like to hear yours. Alright I make 11.50 a hour 40 hours a week okay. I barely make it every week to pay my rent every month. I live in texas 11.50 is somewhat good in California/ ny places like that it cost more to live there so that might not seem good probably closer to minimum wage if it was compared to you guys so if you live there just think 13 a hour or something like that. Okay If i where to add up my pay it would 460 dollars i would make wo taxs.
Right now i make 370 bucks with taxes taking out thats 90 bucks a week taking out if i want insurance which i don't that would be 33 more dollars a week out of my pay check.  My rent is 565 bucks plus electric bill etc. At the end of the month i usually have about 200 bucks saved and thats pushing it. If i got half of what i payed for taxes i could probaley make it and live a little better and not have to cheap out on every aspect of my life.
Maybe if everyone brought home alittle more money people would spend more they would boost the economy everything would eventually be alittle cheaper in theory. Maybe people wouldn't have to rely on food stamps and goverment to bail them out. Granted people that make minimum wage are probaley ****ed anyway they don't get taxed as much they don't really get all that much taken out but still alittle more pay would still help them out and put food on the table. Idk what are your opinions on this.

Just dont impulse buy/ eat at restraunts alot. Also working alot/nights helps save money aswell. something I learned about money management is make a log for 3 months with every single purchase (including a pack of gum) and in another column income. Its amazing how much a cup of coffee and donut from a gas station adds up, compared to making it at home.

Bingo

Alberta Oil Sands.

No where to live.

DDD is on the money, which is find a way to make more $$$.  If you like your current job, find another pt job.  Maybe something that deals in cash Evil.

Never rely on a goverment to fix your problems, take control of the situation.  Taxes are a way of life and will never go away, find a way to grow your top line and everything else works out.  At the rate the US government is printing money, I am scared to think what your 11.50 will be worth in a couple of years.  Cry

No, seriously Alberta oil sands. You can make $80K a year with no experience straight out of high school. These communities are being built up around the oil sands.

sounds like a good idea for somebody who want to relocate
personally, I'd rather stick near my family and whatnot.  Finding a job near chicago is hard though.  Its also expensive to live out here, same with Cali and NY I hear.

That's what my cousin is doing, and his Dad currently owns a company having to do with the Oil Sands. His Dad makes around $200k a year.

It's good for anyone. Family is awesome, but family won't be around forever. At a certain point, you need to start thinking about your future, which often times, doesn't include being close to family.

I would make a slightly different comment, but in line with DDD. I would go and try to make as much money as I could while I was young and be separated from family/friends, etc. That's the time to do it. You'll want to be around family more when you have kids and that will be much easier if you've put a lot of money away and then go back to where you came from and take a lesser paying job. However, once you've established yourself in another area, you may not want to move back home....and if you have money then you can travel and visit family as much or as little as you want.
