We should get a number of these and do a vote on them. Or if possible we could get the best ones and have the banners rotate (shows a different banner every time the page is loaded). If you guys get what I mean.
I was thinking of one more idea. Would anyone be able to make one that is like the current one (the console bursting through the background) but with all four platforms (Wii U, 360, PS3 & PC)?

Probably, but space is limited ( very limited ) so unless you could make the banner bigger I don't think it will look good.

I'm not sure if we can have a rotating banner. There's not an option for that, which means I'd have to code it into the header.

Like an extended gif or something? I don't know what the 'time limit' is for those.

It would have to be by page refresh.
What I'm thinking is that I'll set up a random number generator with values 0 and 1, assign that value to some variable, then have an if-else statement to determine which image is displayed. This would be done each time the page is loaded.
But I don't know if we have that much control. Surely if it's just Javascript we can do it as that's a client-side language so we wouldn't have to deal with SMF's servers.

What Autumn said; with a bigger banner there are more options to add into it. With such a small template you're limited. I also like the GIF idea.

I was basically thinking of using the GIF idea because I remember seeing someone's sig on another site that changed everytime you refreshed the page and it was also in GIF format.
About the banner, is 450 x 125 the limit that SMF has or can it be longer?

The banner is very mis-leading, I thought this was a pure wii supporter forum until I looked at the boards.
I like the bottom 4 of Autumn's.

^Exactly! It isn't just the name of the site, it's also the banner that misleads people if they get past the name. I'm still waiting on an answer for this.I was basically thinking of using the GIF idea because I remember seeing someone's sig on another site that changed everytime you refreshed the page and it was also in GIF format.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think it can be whatever size you want.
