My wife isn't exactly happy about it, but she doesn't complain.  I'm also a dork with my Hi-Viz jacket and full face helmet, riding jeans and protective slip-on boots.  I have no intention of getting in any accidents but would be pissed if I did and got hurt because I wanted to look cool instead. Dress for the fall some say.

It was more of a realiziation her part.  Complaining wasn't going to change things; there were about 6 months from the time I started looking at motorcycles to the time I bought my scooter.  This may have lessened the blow; combined with the motorcycle safety course, hi-viz gear and full face helmet. She still won't get on it though.

When my brother got a motorcycle his wife was so dam mad took her like 5 weeks to get over it. You got to be carful with that thing my man a accident at 20 mph will **** you up. Safety course's are lame but they are a refresher I guess. I always wanted one but I don't have the money for it. I mainly just wanted one to drive around town with get something to eat that kind of thing. Can't really go grocery shopping with it Tongue

Being a teacher, and with school starting early August, It's pretty much crazy around here in August and September until everything settles.  My wife is also a teacher in the same district and both my kids go to school in the same district as we do, so we go from vacation to 100mph in just a couple of days and it's a mad house for a bit.  It's beginning to settle down a bit so I'll probably pick up the game and play a bit on weekends (if I'm not out exploring).

As for the bike, let me say that 250cc (like mine) is plenty of bike for anything a sane person wants to do 99% of the time. I'm glad I started on a small bike because little mistakes haven't cost me my life, injury, or damage to the bike. If your not afraid of what other people say or think there are quite a few 250 motorcycles to start with that now have ABS, brand new for under $5000. Reality though, there is maybe a better choice of scooters between 200 and 300cc. Still, I may upgrade to something a little bigger in the next year, not as a replacement, but as a supplement. Especially on those longer rides on weekends. So, something more for traveling long distances at sustained speeds with something in reserve. My bike is comfortable up to 65mph, but after that it starts to run out of steam and isn't quite as stable. So something that can cruise at 65-70 and still have power to overtake or get out of the way.

Maybe this:

or, hopefully this if Honda bring it over.  It's the exact same bike (engine, chassis, brakes, etc), just different plastic to look more like a scooter and built more for touring:

Very nice GH  Afro Bikes are great if you want to tour around. My cousin (who actually lives here on the East Coast) has been touring all across Canada and down through the US (California, Vegas, etc.) for the last couple of weeks and it looks like he's having a great time.

Glad to hear you're still alive  Afro

I bet he's having a blast. There are few things I've done that are truly as enjoyable. I don't even need to go fast, 45-60 is my preferred speed. Those secondary roads with fewer cars are so enjoyable. Being in the middle of CA, if I go west I cross mountains to get to the ocean, if I go east I'm in the Sierra's. Even with all of my gear, the wind and temperature changes, smells, sights are all completely different than in a car. To be sure, I have to be alert at all times for road debris, potholes, oil/sand/gravel/small lines in the road, everything is noticeable and can cause a get off if you're not careful. Not to mention inattentive drivers and suicidal animals that jump out of nowhere.

If you get the chance watch the Top Gear "Vietnam" special or the Ewan McGregor documentaries The Long Way Down and The Long Way Round.
Both are on Netflix. http://www.longwayround.com/index.htm

Don't get bent. You were soliciting information about how to paper a purebred dog on a gaming forum. I was trying to help.   Roll Eyes
