Did you try going to the Home Menu, going to Controller Settings, picking Pair Wii Remotes (I think it is) and attempt to pair them from there?

If you bought the batteries at the same time, it's possible but not likely. All I use is the rechargeable batts.  I've set up 6 wiimotes on 2 separate systems and haven't had any issues....*knocks on wood

Well bought a new charger and it deemed all 8 batts no good.  That would only happen to me, WTH.

Could you explain what the problem is exactly? Do the remotes not sync with the Wii U? Do the batteries not work or do they shut down randomly in the remotes?

Did you try these batteries in any other battery powered devices first?

All fixed now', the wii mote would work for a few seconds and quit.  I would switch batts and have the same issue, consequently  I incorrectly surmised a sync issue.  I figured there was no way all 8 rechargables would crap out at once.  Wrong again, they did.

Now if only I could improve my connection speed to overcome these lag comp issues.  Or another six thousand or so people would start playing.

Makes a little sense I guess.  Recharge batteries have a finite number of charges.  If you're like me I usually use them in order so I guess they could reach their max around the same time.  Maybe your old charger messed them up?  Did you try your new batteries in the old charger?

Negative, took the big plunge and dropped 28 bucks at sams for a charger and 10 batts.  Old charger heaved, checked old batts in new charger before giving them the to the recycle bin.
