Yes you could have saved money but if DICE stays true to their word about Premium being a one-time fee that carries over to future titles, then it's a great investment. Especially if I know I'm going to put time into the game. Premium for BF3 was a no-brainer for me because I knew I loved the game and would get all of the DLC to try the new maps and guns.
Maybe I'm biased because I primarily played CoD up until the end of BC2 when I finally swapped over to BF fully. I see the good in the game and how they put effort into their DLC...almost every single DLC CoD dropped usually has me deleting a week later because I hate every single map. Not to mention I always wonder if they were even on-disc beforehand....BF 2gb is a clear sign that you're actually paying for DLC and not getting a 84mb download unlock for stuff already on the disc.
