True. http://ca.ign.com/articles/2013/03/29/unreal-engine-4-frostbite-3-will-not-support-wii-u- Following an Unreal Engine presentation at 2013's Game Developer Conference, Rein clarifies his response to IGN, still laughing, "I just laugh at the question...Unreal Engine 4, we're not PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, or Wii U. It's next-gen technology. That's what we're aiming for." It's true though, the Wii U is what the Wii should have been.

Sure smells like fanboy in here... I'm glad I got that off my chest I feel better now. lol, right? I don't think Nintendo really even cares if people consider WiiU "next gen". They just stick to doing their own thing. But if you really have to put it in those terms then the PS4 isn't really next gen either, despite what the devs say. PCs take a p iss on the consoles no matter how advanced they are on release. A gaming computer will be forever ahead of consoles so it'd be a moot point to argue about power/next gen among consoles, even if one can handle Frostbite 3, Unreal 4, Cryengine and the other cannot.

I knew those comments were coming. I am far from a fanboy. If I was a fanboy I would post that article and say something like LOL WII U IS ****. Fanboys have no reasoning behind what they claim. I have plenty, and I don't claim things that are completely ridiculous either. I just find it funny that a developer and a room full of people would laugh out loud at the mention of the Wii U. It's sad how Nintendo has changed, rather how it hasn't changed whatsoever. http://gyazo.com/fc5cc7649619af6f007c70502fb41ae0

I don't care about some nerdy developer chuckling about graphical capabilities.
Nintendo still has the best first party games by far. As long as they keep making good first party games and keep having sports games on their console their system is the only one I'm considering, assuming their online is acceptable this time around, which I heard it finally is.

After 20 years of being the best at that, I think it's finally time to admit that they're not on top anymore. It's just Mario/Zelda over and over and over and over and over!

Mario and Zelda are their main franchises. Mario is Mr. Nintendo. Of course they're going to make Mario and Zelda games. They're known to be good games. You of course know that with Zelda because you were excited about the Wind Waker reveal for the Wii U. Then there is Pokemon. I'm not saying they're on top or not since I really don't discuss that stuff.
I thought it was pretty disrespectful that they actually laughed at the question. Though I'm not really into the news about game engines so that doesn't really bother me.

During the presentation the day before, another journalist asked if Unreal Engine 4 would work on Nintendo's Wii U -- a console that straddles the line between next-gen and the current one in terms of horsepower. "Hahahaha, no," he responded, which sent a wave of laughter through the room of journalists. But that's not technically true, he admitted the next day, walking back his gaffe. "You heard the stupid gaffe yesterday about the Wii U," he said. "If someone wants to take Unreal Engine 4 and ship a game on Wii U, they can! If they wanna ship an Unreal Engine 4 game on Xbox 360, they could make it happen." While that game might not look as pretty as it would on a "true" next-gen console, the new engine is scalable to a variety of platforms, including mobile.
Despite UE4's next-gen bent, the engine is built from the ground up with portability in mind. For instance, the UE3 demo running in Firefox was described as just the beginning -- Epic plans to get UE4 running in browsers in the not-too-distant future.

The current Rare is a shell of its former self. Everyone that mattered in that company back in the Snes/N64 days left. Which sucks since they own some pretty good IPs (Killer Instinct, Banjo, Conker, Jet Force Gemini, etc.).
