Used to ride with some friends a couple years back but haven't used my bike since then. It's getting nice outside and I want to get back into it but 2 years of disuse left my bike in need of a good tune up. Anyone know anything about tuning up a bike? I need to properly adjust the shifting cable and maybe the brake cable a little bit. The chain and gears probably need a good cleaning and lubing as well. Any good cleaners and chain oils? Here's my bike:

WD40?
WD-40 is more of a penetrant than lubricating oil. You can use it to lube hinges but anything that undergoes a lot of friction, it wouldn't be recommended to use it since it would dry off really fast. Them tires need air.
Yeah I know: 2 years of disuse
I lost my air pump and most of my accessories. Must have thrown them out by accident or something because I really can't find them. Oh well, I'm a Billy Idol approved rebel who don't need no helmet. Oh well, thx guys. ...i think this actually belongs in the sports thread then?

After you are done you can come and take care of mine... I didn't really think of doing maintenance... other than filling tires.
Is your biking on flat surfaces or do you mountain bike?

Well it's a mountain bike but I think it's only a mid grade bike. there's a lot better ones out there but what I used it for was a combination of paved and rough trail. Basically there was a bit of a rough ground path next to the paved one. I want to get into some of the rougher trails that we have around here.

Ahh, ok. We only have paved paths here so I don't think ours go through as much wear and tear.
I'm glad you are getting back into it. Even though my biking is more recreational, I love doing it on warm days!

slow tire leaks-green slime works wonders, Lucas chain oil is awesome, cables normally have tension screws for making adjustments. Side note a small compressor w/ 1 bottle of green slime can b found in bike or auto section in walmart.
