Glad we agree that hockey is not a real sport then.

Yeah, but the pressure I was referring to was the pressure of hockey being considered a real sport.  Gotcha.

Yeah no problem there. Hockey players are in way better shape than the foosball fatties, considering hockey is a real sport

That's cute.  I'd like to see a hockey player try to intimidate a lineman with his adorable little falls and slides on the ice.

It's cute that you think football players aren't in way better shape than hockey players.  Like seriously, that's stereotypical of every single non-American.

It's very American of you to assume football players are in way better shape than hockey players. Football players have no endurance compared to hockey players. They go in short bursts with many breaks. Hockey players have to play with super intensity for longer periods of time with far fewer breaks.

Oh that's just plain funny.  I'd like to see a hockey player try shoving a 350 lbs man a couple feet while the man is pushing back.  I'd like to see him do it 60 times in 6 second intervals.  I'd like to see what he looks like at the end of that.

Or, if you'd prefer, I'd like to see a hockey player sprint at top speed 30 yards every play (possibly more), and see what he looks like at the end of that.

Which really doesn't mean all that much when you consider that they are maxing out what their bodies can do every single play.

Yeah, they have to skate around on ice with far fewer breaks.  They don't have to exert nearly as much energy since their blades facilitate acceleration at such lower speeds.  They also don't get hit by players whose sole job is to make them stop moving on every single play.

People really underestimate football players' athleticism (especially linemen) simply because they're huge.  And it's hilarious.

I didn't say they weren't athletic and I'm sorry, but football players just aren't in better shape. Yes, they take way more abuse and that is why their careers aren't as long, but abuse =/= being in better shape. Soccer players are even in better shape than football players  Roll Eyes Just so you know, skates don't take away from athleticism at all. It's just the equipment used to play the game. You need to move your legs to make them work  Roll Eyes

Except they are.

But you need to expend far less energy to reach playing speeds with them.  It does not take nearly as much effort to reach the same speeds assuming equivalent weight as it does in football.  That's just physics.
