Saying hockey players are in better shape is a bit silly... Any and every sport require a lot of training if you want to be professional at it.

AND DID TERM AND TURBO SIGN UP YET FFS?

Funny how you made reference to my comment and not Turbos. He said that football players were in better shape.

I didn't say they weren't athletic and I'm sorry, but football players just aren't in better shape. Yes, they take way more abuse and that is why their careers aren't as long, but abuse =/= being in better shape. Soccer players are even in better shape than football players  Roll Eyes Just so you know, skates don't take away from athleticism at all. It's just the equipment used to play the game. You need to move your legs to make them work  Roll Eyes

Yes, because soccer and hockey are great parallels.

/sarcasm

I'm about the size of your average lineman(maybe a little under, most people guess I weigh 50+ lbs less than I do). I can spend an hour ice skating and not feel a goddamn thing when I'm done. I go running for an hour and dont wanna move for the rest of the day. Hockey is inherently easier thanks to the skates. You don't have to move to go forward, you can glide, which frankly most players spend upwards of half the time they're on the ice doing. Plus, you need absolutely no strength with hockey for a solid hit as you can carry your momentum into the hit significantly moreso than you can in any football situation.

ggs though term

Lol! You bring so much credibility to the discussion Handy. Good for you! Your figure skating has nothing to do with professional hockey. As soon as you made a comparison to yourself skating you lost all credibility. You have no idea what its like to play hockey and the shape you need to be in if your comparing it to a pleasure skate and saying you need no strength is laughable. GGs Handy.

I'm curious how you think you have any idea what playing professional football is like.  Or professional hockey.

We don't need to be professional athletes to comment on the sports.

I love how term thinks he knows everything about both sports despite likely only having played one. I've played both buddy(inb4dontcallmebuddypal), football was considerably tougher. That said, lacrosse is the best sport on the face of the earth, both of you suck.

Also, I would make a joke about how term is biased because hockey is the national sport of canadia, but I know better. Its not the national sport, lacrosse is(and don't argue that its only the summer sport, it was the only national sport until 10ish years ago).  Lips Sealed

Read what I said Turbo. Didn't say we couldn't comment. I said that if Handy was going to compare a pleasure skate to professional hockey then he had no credibility. There's a difference. When did I say that you couldn't comment on hockey because you hadn't played it? I didn't for the very reason that none of us have played professionally.

And Handy, didn't say football wasnt a "tougher" sport...as a matter of fact I blatantly stated it was tougher on your body. That has nothing to do with being in better shape...that has to do with being able to take a beating. That's different. Don't have to be in great shape to take a beating. I've played both too....football recreationally and in many hockey leagues and I don't pretend to compare myself to professionals like you just did.
