Lets open that can of worms then. How are females limited on the frontlines?

Women are generally physically weaker and smaller stature. They also have different hygiene requirements that men just don't.

Maybe we should talk about the actual game instead of having this gender argument.

Apparently the killstreak known as Satcom is replacing the UAV. It isn't a plane anymore. It is some sort of portable radar that you throw on the ground. Using only one shows enemies in your line of sight which is what I guess would be in close proximity. Using two at the same instance acts like the previous UAVs and using four acts like an Advanced UAV.

Since they are something you throw on the ground they can be destroyed by gunfire. Any opinion on that?

Yeah, I liked the old UAV. Doesn't seem like much of a perk for 5 kills in a row  Undecided or did they lower the kill requirement?

Or maybe we can allow organic discussion to take place without acting like topicality is something we enforce on this site.  Afro

Good, UAV is far too useful for such a low requirement of kills/score.

I've been wanting a female skin ever since I started playing FPS games a few years ago. Just seems weird to play a dude when I am a girl, haha. I've always chosen to play a girl when given the option.

People get pretty hypersensitive about this stuff. I wonder if it would become an issue of race if they all of a sudden decided to add a black soldier, an ageist issue if they added a character who saw too many moons, or a lookism if the soldier was super ugly.

Anyone can become physically stronger with training.

Are you telling me that every man in the military is stronger than any woman? That's an ignorant assumption.

What does hygiene have anything to do with anything?

That's something I'd actually like to see.  I'm tired of always playing as some ruggedly handsome, buff Marine.  I want to play as the 19 year old kid who joined up with the Marines because it was that or working at a car shop with his old man, and I want to experience the horrors of war through his eyes.  I want him to be awkward and have acne and miss home.  I don't want him to be a modern military equivalent of a super hero.

I think he's talking about that time of the month.

You need to learn the meaning of the word generally.

Anyone becomes stronger with training, yes. But males see greater gains in speed, muscles size and resistance. That's why olympic events are separated by gender. Testosterone does that, and males have a lot more of it than women.

Hygiene has a lot to do with it when you're on a mission and you have to take care of womanly things inches away from the rest of the soldiers. You didn't think they got bathroom breaks did you?

Yeah, man. I think adding the female is a step in more diversity but I want to see it follow through with all the possible character types!

I just hope they don't fall into the damsel-in-distress stereotype when writing for her character (assuming she'll be in the campaign), but I also really really hope they don't make her a "one of the guys, pretty much exactly like the men but with boobs" stereotype either.

Yeah, I agree 100%. Odds are she'll be the slightly weaker but more intelligent role. Strategist or something.

I'd be cool with that.

What I think would be awesome is if Activision/IW got Joss Whedon to do the female roles in the campaign.  That guy kicks ass at writing female characters, primarily because he doesn't try to turn them into male characters with boobs tacked on.  That was the best thing about Firefly to me, how all the girls could still be girls and do girly things but never once seemed out of place in the story, even when it came to battles and bloodshed, especially with Zoe.  God I loved that show.

But yeah, I can't say my expectations are high for this new character.  At least it'll fill the desire to play as a same-gender character for girls, though, like you said.  That will be nice.

No need to be a jerk about it. I just wanted this to get back to talking about the game.
