From what I've heard, core i5 is fine for games, core i7 is more geared more towards people who are editing videos and other stuff that if you multi-task, it is a lot more tasking on your CPU.

Pretty much, but damn does having an i7 make a difference.  I can render 30 minute videos in about 5 minutes in HD.
