I was hoping someone would make a topic so I didn't have to.  Tongue

I've played at least 6 hours so far, and I have a list of things that I think about it. Keep in mind I am not a fan of the GTA series whatsoever, and have always placed it at the top of what I believe to be the most overrated games ever. The reasons I bought this one were because: I like the play whatever the most likely candidates for GotY are, so I can participate in those discussions, I wanted to give this one a try since the others I never played/cared for on release since I was always too young.

So here are what I believe are some of the pros and cons based on about 6-10 hours of playing.

Pros:

- Being able to switch between characters whenever is a really awesome tool
- The way the story switches you between characters at the beginning automatically by linking the characters' lives together is also awesome
- Characters (important or not) around the city always talk about the city as if they've lived there a long time. This seems like something trivial, but it's something I've never seen a game really do before and it's cool. It makes the world feel more alive/real. For example, they mention street names or areas and it sounds natural. I don't know why but I really like that. Tongue
- The voice actors are really great, and the interplay between the characters feels natural and at most times hilarious. From what I've played, Franklin and Michael are really well done. His family is, too. There is one character that I despise, but that'll be in the cons.
- Cover system works well, the shooting mechanics are also pretty good. Nothing outstanding here, pretty average. Although, the x that appears on your cursor to show you've killed the enemy you're shooting at is a really cool feature that should be in more games.

Cons:

- The little boxes that appear to tell you hints are in a horrible position. The text is also too small. I feel like they were trying to not be intrusive, but it's a bit over the top. It's way up in the top left, and at the beginning of the game at least, they appear while you're driving. Multiple times I had to look up to see what it was telling me and basically crash because I couldn't see what I was doing.  Tongue
- I'm still not 100% where I stand on this one, as it might be up to me to practice more, but the driving still seems messed up. At first I couldn't stop swerving, but they start you in a supercar so that could be why. It's gotten better over time, but it still seems off. I've always hated driving in GTA, and I have to say I still don't like it. This complaint is subject to change, though.
- The jumping mechanic is weird, and kind of hard to aim where you're jumping to. It also feels really limp, and you tend to randomly fall down if you touch things slightly wrong.
- Franklins friend is SO. ANNOYING. HOLY. Also, saying **** every other word is not funny. -_-
- The controls are weird. Circle for reload? Square for jump? R1 for cover? X for run is the worst thing ever. If X was cover, and R2 was run it would be so much better. The inability to change controls is also not cool. Luckily you can switch R1/R2 L1/L2 so you can shoot with R1 instead, but still. The rest are still messed up. I know those are 'classic' GTA or whatever, but they were never good then.

I totally missed stuff and I haven't played long enough to know if any of these will hold true til the end, but for now that's what I think.

I like it better than what I have thought of the series in the past, but it absolutely does not deserve the hype/scores it's gotten.
