Disclaimer: in no way am I saying GTA V is a bad game. I have plenty of good things to say about it, also. I just don't like how so many people ignore/look over its flaws.
How dare ye Turbo me.

I don't feel like doing that so I'll just pick stuff out.
"Alright, I agree with you... But you can't really compare GTA to a shooter or a racing game because GTA is not a shooter or a racing game. "I think we're both kind of wasting time on this one, and neither are necessarily correct. Its combat is primarily shooting, and its transportation is primarily driving (which you do a LOT of) so they are important aspects. They're not bad enough to ruin the game of course, but I was just mentioning how a lot of other games do both better. They aren't 'exceptional' as some people claim every part of GTA is.
I've never played fallout but I have played Red Dead and I'd love for you to explain to me how the open world is better in that game? It's not bigger... There's not more to do... so what makes it better? As far as this goes, I guess RDR isn't exactly a better open world. I just like the setting better. To me, constantly being in a city gets tiresome and repetitive. GTA V is an improvement over the others with the added mountain/country areas, but even those areas feel like there's nothing to do in them. I want to point out that just because there's 'more to do' doesn't mean anybody actually does it. They're just filler/gimmicks. Golfing, getting a haircut, etc. are things you will do once or twice and then forget about. They become pointless points on the map. That's not truly 'so much to do'. Fallout or even Elder Scrolls do open world muuuuuch better, though.
I also think you should try and separate the writing from the voice acting. The voice acting in TLoU has so much more emotion put in to it. It feels real, it connects with you, and it portrays the emotions of the characters on to you. In GTA V, they just have clever/witty writing, making the characters funny/likeable. The voice actors are great, yes, but I feel like there is so much more emotion put in to TLoU, or even Uncharted. There are plenty of games where it isn't just clever writing, it's the voice actors doing an amazing job at portraying emotions. Persona 4, RDR, Catherine, BSInfinite come to mind.
What do you mean by this exactly? lol If GTA was about a demon killing, dragon fighting ninja/superhero then I'd agree with you but it's about 2 middle aged men and a 20 year old thug. The context doesn't really matter. Physics are done poorly in other games too. It tends to be the big open world games that fall short. Elder Scrolls, Fallout, GTA, etc. For whatever reason these games don't feel solid. Whenever you're running/fighting it either feels stale (ES/FO) or slippery (GTA). I don't know why, but a lot of people just write those flaws off as if they don't exist. They do, and it's very apparent if you play something like Dark Souls or inFamous. Simply running around in these games shows you how the others should feel. When you try to turn around/position yourself properly it's quick and precise. In GTA (
tapping X to run is garbage by the way) when you try to run and then turn, it's awkward. The jumping is also horrible, if you barely touch things you just become a piece of stone and fall over. There's no excuse for that, it's just plain bad.
Ok, show me again what games you're talking about? exclude all extreme fantasy world games because you can't really compare those graphics to a realistic world game.wot. The obvious answer is TLoU. inb4 'it's linear so it doesn't count hur hur' A comparison is a comparison. The character models/textures of basically everything other than the water and cars look... ok. GTA looks good at a distance. TLoU looks good at all times. Since I'm apparently not allowed to mention fantasy, Beyond Two Souls is another fantastic looking game that's about to release that is realistically presented.
About the music... meh, I guess it's up to personal taste. Still, it lacks that feeling of epic music that a lot of other games offer. Zelda/Pokemon/TLoU/Persona/DSouls have such amazing
original sound tracks and they support the games mood, GTA feels bland in that category.
