Haven't you seen Back to the Future 2? In time travel there are infinite parallel universes and going back and stopping walmart from existing only changes one of them. The one you bought the time machine in still exists.

That's just bad science. And Back to the Future's explanation isn't? I find it much more likely that if you traveled through time, you would be in the same timeline but unable to change anything. If you killed your grandfather before your father's birth would you cease to exist? No, your grandfather wasn't killed by you, therefore you must have failed to kill him. If you had killed him, you wouldn't be here now.

If you killed your grandfather before your father's birth would you cease to exist? No, your grandfather wasn't killed by you, therefore you must have failed to kill him. If you had killed him, you wouldn't be here now. lol. I was joking. Although your paradox is easily explained by the multiple timeline theory of time travel. If you change something in the past, that creates a new timeline where the future is based on the events you have changed. Whereas the timeline you came from doesn't cease to exist because it obviously has already existed. So it continues unchanged since its history has already been established to bring it to the point it is at that time. Nothing in your future time is changed because it was based on events that already occurred without you changing them. Then when you change them, a different future exists for the reality based on those events. This theory removes the paradoxes associated with old ideas of time travel. But again, I was joking. Time travel is not science. As was pointed out it is all just science fiction, so we can make it up as we go.

The multiverse/multiple timeline set up is really the best imo.

If Grook thinks so, it must be right. He's the only one of us who has actually traveled through time.
