I figured why not. The last game I bought was BF3 so it was time for a new game. I will say this about it, I like the graphics much better than BF3, meaning, I can see more clearly. Controls are set up a little differently, but I'll deal with that. I played a little TDM and a little Domination.  I think I like Domination. And as most of you know that played with me in the past, my main objective is to enjoy myself and I had a pretty decent time playing it.

yeah they changed the graphics up a lot in the sense that they don't have this weird tint over everything. like grand bazaar looked blue and some of the aftermath maps looks orange. now things look a lot brighter and more vivid so it's a lot easier picking out soldiers out from the background. the maps themselves are a lot better thought out and much more balanced and open. no more fawking choke points like metro. oh and they're dynamic too. i'm so happy they brought back destructible environments and also these huge "levelution" events.

also, a lot of things like suppression and random bullet deviation have been reworked so gunplay is a lot better too. so there's that.

there is a narrow roadway from c that heads towards b and then hits a T section road and if you head right there is B, anyways between that b and c section its just insane and reminds me of the L in Monastery

Played last night. It's pretty fun. I like it better than B3, but it sometimes takes a lot to bring someone down in this game- or maybe it was the weapon I was using.

Anyway, I do like the graphics more, but it's going to take some time for me to get used to the new flight controls. I'll definately be on this weekend (double-xp).  Afro

I'm enjoying it much more than BF3.  I like the weapon choices much better; meaning I like being able to have multiple choices in all classes. I stayed home with my daughter today who had the flu, so I played way too much.  I've only played domination but I like it overall. Glad I got the game.

man, i'm glad you guys are enjoying it a lot. in my case, i'm getting whipped good, boy. some of these guys have amazing aim and I can't keep up with them too well. keyboard movement is difficult but dammit, I'm going to get good. i'm good at this game and I know it.

Should have built your PC at least a month before BF4. That way you could have just downloaded free a FPS like Team Fortress 2 in order to get used to M/KB.

How much did your PC end up running you after everything was done?

oh i had it a couple of weeks before bf4 actually. and yeah, i was playing other shooter games to get used to it. just, on multiplayer when you're against guys with a great shot, it's a lot harder. but i'm doing a lot better today. played a round with willmine and a couple of dudes from work. i was in the first 5 spots at the end.

i think willmine got pist because my friends and i are on mumble and my mumble push to talk button is left-alt button. that also happens to be the default bf4 push to talk button. so i'd be talking back to the guys and the people in game would hear too. well, anyway, he dropped out pretty close to the end and i'm thinking that's why.

oh and it's easily going to be north of 1,000 dollars for the pc. i still got a few things i want to buy. i'd like to get 8 more gigs of ram, an ssd and a proper monitor.

but you know what man, i think it was worth it for me. it's going to last me a lot longer than any console will and when it gets old, i'll just drop 200 dollars on a graphics card and i'm good as new. plus, the experience is so much better than it was on console. now, the next gen consoles might bring it all up to par, but i made my choice and i'm really happy with it.

hopefully the consoles do give you a similar experience.

I'll probably pick this up soon if the clarity of the gameplay is more on par with BC2 as opposed to BF3. It was difficult for me to pick out enemies on BF3 so I went back to BC2. The clarity of the game was so much better.

The convoluted method of configuring your loadouts on BF3 also frustrated me. I also don't remember being able to select the map I wanted to play in BF3.

I am intrigued by the PC platform. Maybe after the first of the year, I will be looking into building a proper gaming PC. No way I'd try that on my outdated PC. I do most of my work on the Mac platform anyways.

Hey coolhand.  I played BC2 for about a week before BF4 came out and just had so much fun again. As for the new game, yes I like it much better, it's clearer and the maps are more enjoyable too, at least on domination. I haven't played any of the other maps.

As for picking you map, you can. Go to the server browser and set your filters (R3 button I think, it tells you somewhere on the screen how to set filters).  I think you'll enjoy BF4 much better than BF3.

Weapons were on of my issues in BF3 too. I like them much better here, plus you can unlock shotguns, carbines, and semi-auto rifles known as DMR's in this game to play with all kits. So basically, I can use the SKS or 870 and still be the ammo guy. Though I have found I have better, but not great control with the auto weapons.

man, they neeeeeed to fix the netcode and server stability. i keep getting killed behind walls and disconnecting randomly. other than that, i'm enjoying the game. getting a lot better now and can acquire targets a lot more easily. now i just need to work on my "tactics". need to get my score/min up and contribute more.
