but minimum wage is supposed to get you by, not give you a career and the liberal party is just trying to save their ass after all the recent scandals.

It's mind boggling to me. Some people are better than others, and some people will fail. At the end of the day, someone needs to lose.

Ok so some people are better than others so some will fail but those that fail and live on minimum wage deserve to "lose?"

I would rather the "losers" be helped rather than punished.

The minimum wage should be enough for people to support themselves. A good minimum wage gives people the freedom to maybe get a degree and work their way up. Working for little pay will just stagnate the working class.

Which it is. People have misconceptions as to what support yourself means though. Cell phones, internet, TV's, cars, downtown apartment aren't required to support yourself.

because making money is the only way of helping the system?

Yes. That's how the system is designed to work. Things that are in demand are helping the system, and things that are in demand make money.

The failures still deserve at least a chance of success. If you take away their healthcare, their minimum wage, their education, they will always be poor.

Cool. The solution isn't however to bring down the rest of the people around the failures. Temporary fixes are vote hookers.

I get that your posts are targeting people who have opportunities but settle for minimum wage jobs, but a lot of people can't afford university education and need a good minimum wage in order to work their way up.

If people are happy with minimum wage then i don't see a problem as long as they are happy to live within their means. As you said not everyone can be rich, or "special".

There are opportunities for people outside of University education that aren't taken advantage of because of everyone's desire to do what they want instead of what they need to do.

The only reason they aren't in the situation you guys are is because of natural resources. The eastern part of the country is struggling.

You make some valid points DDD, but I believe life needs many different views, strengths, acceptance, and even weaknesses. Sometimes the weaknesses are what elevates others and allows their strengths to shine. If we were all rich and all worked hard it would just set a new level of how much work is considered enough and prices would rise, etc. so you would still have the "poor". I am certainly not an advocate of helping people that are unwilling to help themselves. If they are "unable" to help themselves then we probably need to do something to help.

And there's plenty of opportunities for people now. People aren't taking advantage of them. Our government isn't helping people do that.

I agree. There are plenty of opportunities, but there are other factors. Some people are willing to live to a lower standard in order to be close to family; however, a lot of people that would normally be seasonal workers or on welfare are actually in Alberta and Saskatchewan (away from home), making lots of money. As you stated, Atlantic Canada is struggling and that's where they go.

There should be far less university students, and far more people going right to work. They are getting paid $20 an hour plus travel expenses and ridiculous amounts of overtime.

6 figures is not out of the ordinary out West. Crazy money for jobs that don't require a degree.
