If you haven't made a Darkmage Blood Brother yet, do it right now. It's so much fun, and only a little OP.
Soul Greatsword and Darkstorm are the best spells in the game for PvP. Greatsword is a huge arc which swings pretty fast, and Darkstorm summons abunch of Pursuers to circle around you for a bit. If somebody tries to get close to you, they take massive damage. The best part is that the wind-up animation for it is the same as any of the Heal miracles, so you can heal right in their face if you've gotten them wary of Darkstorm.
I just hope nobody else realizes how amazing these two are.

but it's so much more fun using things that aren't good.
Dark magic is ridiculous.
What system are you playing on by the way?

Not all the time. Sometimes I'd just rather throw up pursuers and spam Great Resonant Soul than try my hardest with crappy equipment against guys with end-game stuff. I just don't stand a chance on my non-OP characters yet. Dark Magic is really only ridiculous before you learn the counters. They're crazy-easy to dodge, unless latency is an issue. That said, it's a little hard to learn how to counter something when it melts you on contact. PS3, ofc.

Well the lag in this game is weird. In DS1, there was almost always a constant slight lag, almost like in MoH:H2 In this, it goes from no lag to a big lag spike out of nowhere, then back to normal.

I always had either slight lag or massive lag in DS1, but have only noticed it a few times in DS2.
I'm taking the game slow. 5 or 6 characters, and they're mostly around the Undead Crypt. SL1 is a **** this time.. To keep my Soul Memory low for later invasions, I skipped the Pursuer and Ruin Sentinels. To get my Dark Pyro Flame, I skipped the Rat King Covenant. Problem is, I can't use pyromancy until killing Najka on NG+ (bonfire ascetic) for a +2 Southern Ritual band, or with the Black Witch Hat which nobody seems to know the location of. Meanwhile I'm at full hollow getting OHKO'd by Najka's Soulmass while I lightly smack her with a +3 Broadsword.
If I ever get through this, I'm going to have such a rush of confidence that I'll go to the mall and ask out every girl I see. I know confidence alone isn't enough to get a lady, but when they hear I've completed DS2 SL1, the panties will fly.
